Education, education, education and war : Mon Aug 17, 2020 7:33 am
Sorry for stealing the Kaiser Chiefs album title but, what a bloody shambles we have
An Education Minister, failing spectacularly in his post, with the exam shambles and his boss lacking the balls to deal with him.

What on earth is going on with the Exam predictions ?

Are these the same kids who's education is SO IMPORTANT, where many in the state sector are being heavily penalised for recent history at their schools.
Having had over 3 months to come up with a fair and transparent system, they have waited for the results to be out (or due out) before acting.
What an utter disgrace.

Sturgeon, to her credit, acted very quickly to remedy the problem North of the border and the N. Irish too have responded swiftly but, Williamson and Boris are just letting everything play out in public.

Where is the leadership and rule of common sense ?

No, my solution is to support people and find ways forward, not bleat and moan from behind a keyboard, being jealous, spiteful and hate filled.

I recommend it, we are all a long time dead. Are you and vengecat ever positive about anything?

Seems to me life has dealt you a rough hand, but it's always better to see if you can get a pair than moan about the high card. (which you wont understand)

Stop whining, live your life, love your family. I would say friends, but I very much doubt anyone choses to keep your company.

So, when the government is called out for making a complete balls of something, those calling them out should leave ??
In a cruel twist of irony, you sound like you believe in some kind of communist dictatorship.

Just for clarity, do you think that The Government have got this one right ? :SUBMISSION:

At the point where they knew that grades would be decided by assessment, OVER 4 MONTHS AGO, as simple, clear, method should have been agreed to prevent the very situation that is happening now.
Scotland has been decisive in correcting the issue, N. Ireland has been decisive and quelle surprise (sorry for using French, I realise this could confuse some), Boris is on holiday and his Education Secretary is in fecking hiding.

They need to get a grip.

Enough lies, enough waffle, time for the Government to do their job and run the country. :SHOOT:

You seem perpetually angry. Just to balance things, what makes you happy in life? Nice bit of fishing on a lake? Belgian beers? Go on indulge me.

Maybe it's not anger but frustration that certain posters on here have the solution to all the worlds problems.

Come on mate, the exam situation is about as bad as it could be.
I know that we're in difficult and unprecedented times and there are heaps of things that could be done differently / better.
However, this particular issue, once teachers assessments were deemed the best way forward, has been handled appallingly.

The knock on effects with University placements etc, wasn't too difficult to foresee and there should be some leadership and guidance coming from the Education Minister and if he's not up to it, he should have been replaced quickly.

There was a good article in the Times a few days ago, suggesting that Johnson, so keen to surround himself with "yes men", is losing the ability to adapt to the various situations that are currently arising, as nobody is willing or brave enough to put their head above the parapet and question anything.

Loyalty is a fantastic asset for any leader to have but, the need for some strong characters within the ruling party has never been more important.

Johnson is a "good time Charlie", very good at the back slapping and cheering from the sidelines but, he's supposed to be a Leader, not just a Cheerleader.

What is quite odd is that even when something is being handled so badly, some people cant or wont speak up.

If you want the solution to this one.
When it was decided that grades were to be decided by teachers etc, it should have been with the caveat, that those assessments would themselves be "spot checked", which would have ensured more "honest" grading.
As things are, many schools have gone for "best case" grades, which has lead to arbitrary down grading.
In some cases this will be right but, there will be some huge losers in this and at a time that may change someone's future irrevocably .

This isn't .political comment, it's just common bloody sense.

Our "friend" will still come back with his leftie /commie jibes and who knows, you may agree with him but, this is an open forum for debating current issues or, at least it used to be.
