The club was founded to start playing during the summer of 2008. Based at Weymouth Rugby Union club in Monmouth Avenue the first Giants teams were mainly made up with players from the other code using the summer to get fit and hone their play from the hand.
Such was the interest in the 13 man game that the club has decided to expand its horizons this season and really try and live up to the name "South Dorset".
Geographically this is a big area covering Bridport to the West, along to Dorchester, Weymouth, Wimborne, Wareham and up to Bournemouth.
If the club can get this right they will be a serious contender.
This season they have joined a regional league and will be looking to continue their development.
