Mobile Phones: Choices, choices everywhere ... : Tue May 12, 2015 10:46 am
I'm in a bit of a quandry. My HTC One contract is finishing next month. I really love the phone ... however, I've noticed issues with the operating system (crashes etc.) over the last six months and battery life has suddenly dropped. Previously I had an S2, which I really loved. Never had any issues with that phone and my mum is still using it FOUR YEARS later with no battery issues.
I switched to HTC because of the all metal body. Which seemed like a great idea until you realise it's completely impractical and needs to be covered by a phone shell or be scratched to pieces within a week. Still, I love the build quality and the feel of the phone ... but re-selling a phone brings in decent money and if the battery is shot the re-sale price drops too.
Which has me all befuddled for my next contract. I'm really tempted to go down the Samsung route ... but ... I'm also tempted to look at one of the Chinese phones.
Chinese tech really has improved massively over the last three of four years. They're flooding the market with low-cost-high-quality technology from cameras right up to phones.
Looking at the top end Huawai it's massively over-specced, well built and very low cost. I expect there will be some issues with native Android formats and some UI bugs - but for what you are getting at that price - it's a tough decision.
Does anyone here have the top end Huawei Ascend Mate 7? Worth looking at?
I guess I'm just fed up with paying through the nose for Samsung/Apple/HTC gear. If these companies don't watch out the Chinese will soon sweep them into the ocean.
