Neil's Notes v Leigh/Away travel Widnes : Mon Apr 18, 2011 8:05 am
Whether you like the bonus point or not yesterdays comeback brought us off the bottom of the table. Just a pity we missed the try after a super break by Miles Greenwood which would have brought the scores back 16-16. Instead Leigh took advantage. As Paul Smith who was the guest player in the bar said there were a lot of positives to be had and hopefully we will go on from here. Results of Club 1873 were:-
£20 voucher no 123, June Greenwood
£15 voucher no 76 Sharon Clarke
Voting for the Southdale Lounge Man of the Match saw Makali Aizue in first place with 3 points followed by Sean Penkywicz second on 2 points and finally third with 1 point, Rob Worrincy. That now puts Makali in the lead on 7 points with Paul White second on 6 and followed by Danny Jones on 5.
Yesterdays Hitman award could have been picked up by a number of players who made crucial tackles. We had Danny Jones in first half who pushed winger in to touch when a try looked on as did Sean Penkywicz in the second and Rob Worrincy's chase back to not only tackle the man but made him loose the ball as well. The final decision however went to Joe Chandler for his all round performance and looks better all the time. The award was presented by Ollie Marns. Also nice to see Halifax ex players Les Pearce and Gibbo.
Finally the Golden Gamble winning number was 2349 with £243.
The supporters coach leaves the Shay at 5.45 on Thursday to Widnes for a 7.30 ko. Cost is adults £10 with juniors £5.
