Misi Taulapapa signs for Hull KR.(Taken from Hull KR press release)
However, he was withdrawn after only 23 minutes of last weekend's game against Batley because coach Mark Aston felt his "body language wasn't right" before returning at centre in the second half.
Taulapapa is known to have signed for a Super League club for next season, having first revealed he would be moving on via Twitter, the social networking website.
No-one at Hull KR was available to comment, but the club could officially announce his capture next week, once the anti-tampering deadline has passed.
And Sheffield coach Aston was guarded when asked whether Taulapapa would be heading for Craven Park.
He said: "I've seen this on Twitter. It could be that he won't be here next season. I can't say that he's signed for a Super League club but I can't say he hasn't.
"If Misi's game is affected he'll be replaced and won't be in the team. We have other players who can come in."
