Well what an exciting game. It had everything. 100% effort from everybody. Quite a few standout moments but surely Ryan Fieldhouse take of the high bomb and his splitting run from his line to set up Paul White for the try was one to remember. With all the effort the players are putting in picking the "Hitman" sponsored by the Players Association is going to be difficult. It finally went to Adam Robinson but all the forwards put in some big hits. Dane Manning took the sponsors award for both attack and defence.
Our old favourite at the Club Mick Scott presented the award.
Voting for the Shay Lounge Man of the Match saw Jim Gannon getting the vote and the 3 points, second with 2 points was Penky with Ryan picking up 1 point for third.
Ben Heaton was the guest player in the bar. He is looking forward to this season and hoping to get some consistant performances in now he is settled in at centre after playing fullback for Oldham last season. What a great try he scored following up the break by Dane and finishing on the end of a kick through for his second.
The winning number in the half time draw was 1840 picking up £238.
Our first league game in 2 weeks against Hunslet sees the start of the first draw for Club 1873. Already we have beaton last years total and now stands at 160. Still time to sign up or renew.
Whilst we are still a few bookings short for this Sunday's supporters coach to London Skolars it has been decided the trip will go ahead. We leave the Shay at 9.00am. Cost is £25 with juniors £18. To book phone me on 07714488080
