What you lot on about Toulouse getting into SL for?
It aint gonna happen they blew their chance and whilst I enjoyed our trips there from what I saw its the wrong place for RL its a staunch RU city, Toulouse RU are massive and compared Toulouse RL who are tiny, their crowds were just too small to ever justify SL come on.
My guess is Rimmer was in France to sort out the European Cup thingy thats all.

As for crowds at our level needing to be more than an average of 2500 that is unrealistic even if it would be good idea its just too high to expect any more as there are hardly any away fans in our league whilst in SL you get at least 1K average away support over the season so with the 'glory fans' who prefer SL I would say most clubs could get from 2500 to 4500 if they were allowed up to SL without too much effort and maybe to 5000 if their team does well.

I agree. If a Champ team can genuinely get an average 2500 crowd (without freebies and cheap season tickets) then they'd do fine in SL.

I'm paying more for a Premier Sports TV subscription than a Giants Season Ticket, but I know where I'd rather be on a Sunday afternoon...

The future's bright, and blue 'n' white.

Firstly, when Toulouse were in the Championship they needed to tick boxes to qualify for SL. i.e. win NRC or be in Championship final and have average attendance of 2,500 - wasn't going to happen. Now that they are no longer in the Championship, under RFL rules, they can be invited to apply for SL without any qualification.

Secondly, when they were in the Championship they did not take part in the NRC. Now they are no longer in the Championship they are also in the NRC. Reason - to keep them on the back burner so people don't forget about them.

Conspiracy theory? Perhaps, but would you really put it past those devious ba****ds at the RFL?

As I said, for Toulouse refer to Celtic Crusaders and blinkered will to expand at all costs. I feel for those Toulouse fans out there and how the fans of the championship clubs will react

Toulouse are in next time, plan 'a' failed plan 'b' won't. If we move away from the totally untrustworthy RFL/SL then the placing of Toulouse in SL is good for the game, they are a Big club in waiting and will dwarf Cats gates.
The issue is the Salfords, Cas', Wakey's, HKR's, Widnes', Hudd's of SL who are no bigger than many clubs cast adrift in the Championship. How do we manage the dream of expansion and international development with the realities of M62 heartlands ambitions.
Two divisions of 10 is the only logical way forward.
