From BBC Sport this afternoon:

Former Wales winger Brian Juliff is the new chairman of Wales Rugby League. Juliff, who turns 60 in December, played for Wakefield, Wigan, Halifax and Castleford after switching codes and won eight caps for Wales from 1978-84.

"I had some great moments in the game of rugby league and some great memories of playing for Wales against teams like England and Australia," he says.

"I've always shown a big interest in the development of rugby league in Wales but I now have the time to help make a difference and there's nothing I'd like better to be involved in."

He still follows the fortunes of Fax and mentions them every week on twitter.

Brian once applied for the Chief Exec job at Fax , I do believe it was the time that he was pipped at the post by Nigel Wood . Wonder how our club would have fared if Brian had got the job.

it was a shame he didn't get the job - he has had a v successful career and would have been a good CEO - was it brian who battered one of the aussie forwards in a touring match at thrumpers?

Don't think it was that game but I remember when as second division champs , the following season we were granted a game against the touring aussies. Thrum hall on a Tuesday night before a packed crowd and we pushed them all the way . Think Rob Hutchinson got a try or two but , more than the score , it was a great occasion .
