Alas not to be 12 - 18 final score and Oldham will be making the trip to Featherstone next week.
Pretty close first half with both sides getting stuck into one another with a fair few knocks spread evenly between the two.
Oldham went in front just before half time.
Fax getting quickly back in the game scoring soon after the restart to level at 6 - 6.
From the kick off they allowed the ball to bounce dead in goal gifting possesion back to the visitors.
This and the inabiltilty to hang on to the ball meant they had too many long defensive sets to get through.
Oldham scored their second try and kicked the conversion and with a penalty not long after went into a 6 - 14 lead.
Fax managed to get one back with a good leap and grounding in the corner and landed a near touchline conversion to get in the game at 12 - 14.
Again too many errors meant no pressure could be built and following another mistake Oldham moved the ball right to left straight from the scrum to go in at the left hand corner, the touchline conversion attempt went wide and with the scores at 12 - 18 Fax had one last chance to level it but the ball went to ground in the last minute leaving Oldham just to run the clock down with a safe final exit set.
The lads looked very dissapointed at the end which is understanable but for their first season and with plenty more to come from them it's been a good year.
There was a good crowd for the game as well so plenty of positives.
