I thought I would just add my thoughts onto this thread as I too ate in the banqueting suite on Sunday for the Barrow CC game and it was superb . We were a party of 10 and some of the party had not been to watch Halifax play for several years (some were latent season ticket holders)and they all enjoyed it . They thought the food was really good and enjoyed the atmosphere as there was a special buzz about the place due to the Wombat Roadshow being in town .
They thought Pete was hilarious and had them in stitches (but to be fair they were laughing before he even opened his mouth ).The rugby on the field was first class so all in all a good day out , they were surprised however at the size of the crowd and I suppose if you havn`t been for years that is something that will hit you . The ones who used to go home and away every match said they stopped going because of Summer rugby as they have just too much to do to fit rugby in as well. The others were golfers which I can relate to as sometime my hubby is reluctant to finish a match early to go down to the Shay but he does it.
They all said they would come back again and it topped the day off for them when Graham Eadie came over to shake their hands as they were leaving .
Eadie the poster is so right , it`s part of the package to mix with the players after the match as it is quite expensive but to me it is not so much how much it costs it`s wether it`s value for money or not and I would say that now it is.
Everyones favourite joke of the day came from Pete and he was talking about Roy Dickenson geting some new teeth ,which set everybody off laughing so Pete says" No don`t laugh, a donkeys had to die for him to get them" So if anyone wants to treat themselves it`s well worth it but equally if you can encourage anyone to come down to watch a match on the terraces then please do so let`s try to build the crowd up again.
