I have longed for this to happen and whilst this is not a definite yet, there is a wind of change coming, at last the talk is sensible and the RL world in England has seen the light in that the Franchise sytem is ruining the sport of RL. Common sense at last, Hurrah My only concern now is that they must get it right and ensure the gap in funding between SL1 and whatever comes below it say SL2 is not too big so that teams dropping down don't sink into the abyss and that teams going up are close enough to be able fund a decent set up and team to compete in SL1 plus it must allow for ambitious clubs to have a large enough salary cap to be ready for the step up if they chose to go for it. My suggestion, finances permmitting, is to allow SL2 clubs around 60% of SL1 level funding and salary cap, that way the gap is not too wide and gives SL1 clubs a big enough pot to have a thriving game at the top level. It can be done but some clubs at the top may have to make sacrifices and that is rare in RL sadly but just do it for the good of the WHOLE GAME for once. This is a huge opening for clubs like Fax as all the hard work will hopefully finally pay off and we will see the Wigans, Leeds, Warrington and St Helens down the Shay once again, for us we have to strengthen off the field by getting more fans and a stronger Board as whilst the Board now is doing a good job we need more on it to be able to help fund life in the new world of hopefully SL1 one day! |
