Neil's Notes v Workington : Mon Sep 02, 2013 1:38 pm
Well we got the points to remain 3rd and despite the loss Workington got 8th. All the other placings remained the same although both Sheffield and Leigh lost but it was unlikely their positions would have changed so we will not read too much into that especially Sheffield who had lost only 4 days before in that league leaders show down. Hopefully it will be 3 straight losses for them after Friday. With Barrows win over Keighley it sent Hunslet down, therefore with North Wales promotion it adds to our long trips next season. Could London Skolars add to that in the playoffs or will Oldham have success at last after so may misses?
In the final voting for the Shay Lounge Player of Season, Steve Tyrer was 1st with 3 points, 2nd with 2 points was Lee Paterson and 3rd with 1 point was Luke Ambler.
Anthony Thackeray therefore held on to top spot on 16 points with Scott Murrell 2nd on 14 and 3rd Wayne Reittie on 12. Nearest challengers on 6 points were Sam Barlow and Rob Worrincy with Steve Tyrer, Paul Handforth and Ryan Fieldhouse on 5. The awards which are being sponsored by Halifax RLFC Players Ass will be presented along with the the Under 20's and 1st team tomorrow night in the Shay Lounge Banqueting Suite, doors open at 7.30.
