Say tony Abbott buys the shay. Its alright for a while. We all are happy. Should something happen to reactiv or TA(health, financially) and had to sell. It stops the first bidder who swans along that tony Abbott says yes to.
An ACV buys you time and information, to help formulate plans what ever they maybe. Now I know bubba has applied for the ACV on behalf of the htst, but despite most of your anise towards him. He is still a rugby fan and I know he would engage the rugby supporters trust and the clubs should something happen in the future.

Look Gavin is being just anti private sector and is trying to stall the negotiations which Town fans seem to think is underhand all because it is not in the open to the whole of Calderdale, especially Halifax Town fans and is with a guy who has Halifax RLFC connections. Come on why should it be open to all and sundry? The stadium is Council owned not FC Halifax Town or Halifax RLFC owned so why should they have to share everything which is sensitive financial information on both parties? The system will not allow a public asset to be sold without due diligence and scrutiny by politicians who represent the people of calderdale plus the Council legal department will run through it with a microscope I can assure you!
ACV just protects something from being used for something else which in the Shay's case would be none sport related. Yer that is all well and dandy but the Shay would not be sold off for anything other than a sports ground now anyway, come on Halifax now has enough supermarkets and knocking down the Shay and relocating both clubs would never stack up it would costs millions now that the ground is a decent one plus the land is allocated as open space not for mixed use or employment use (in other words it is allocated as a sports facility).
Where would the money come from for any supporters organisation to take over the Shay and run it as a business? The Shay will not be profitable in its currnet state it needs extra income streams and the biggest thing with Reactiv's bid is they would finish that corner section of the east stand to create offics and create around 100 jobs but hey don't let that fact get in the way Gavin will you???
The biggest thing with any 'deal' to sell the Shay to the private sector is that it must be transferred into the name of a separate stadium company LTD to protect the Shay from the parent company (Reactiv) going bust and a legally binding agreement to ensure the continued use by FC Halifax Town and Halifax RLFC which I believe is what Tony Abbott is proposing.
I am annoyed that some people think that Tony is trying to do this under hand, there is no way the Council would allow that, Tim Swift and the current leadership are sound and the funny thing is they are Labour Councillors who traditionally are not on the side of the private sector, do you really think they would sell the Shay to somebody who does not have the town and clubs at heart and just wants to asset strip the Shay???
Deluded and if this deal falls through I wil come back in 5 to 10 years to remind you how sad the Shay looks as there has been no further investment as the Council will not put any more money in to a loss making stadium.
