My worry is this , just before the school summer holidays "The Giants Roadshow " visited a school in this area bringing along mascot ,players etc last week they were there again ,that`s two visits within 3 or 4 months . Both times the kids were buzzing about it as they left school all on about going to watch the Giants , my heart just sinks at this .
There was a time (admited it`s a good few years ) that Clubs stuck to their own locality when doing promotion like this although Bradford I think were the first to break the mould .
How on earth is a Champ Club supposed to compete trying to market themselves against Super League sides with their budget however hard they try .It`s a shame as our Club has made big strides in this area of late but it made me wonder if they have been into the school that I am associated with how many others are they ? Giants are desperate to boost crowds from wherever they come from and kids like to see players ,that`s how Bradford took our young fans and it worked .I know it`s hard but we must ensure there is a budget for these kind of things but please don`t ask me where it`s going to come from as I havn`t a clue.

Halifax have been doing exactly the same and I am sure will do again next season. The feedback was the kids were scared of the Giants mascot.

lol well I did mean any difference in terms of increasing the crowds, 20% drop is a big drop though, wonder what the drop is from our glory season 3 seasons ago when we were entertaining and winning the big games?

I`m well aware our Club is doing this and are to do it next season and it`s fabulous that they do ,the point I am making is the Giants must be targeting what is traditionaly our area . As for the little girl who said she prefered Halicat ,( not sure if it was the same school) but good on her . All the kids I spoke to thought the whole visit a big hit as I am sure they do when Halicat goes in .

FAILURE ISN'T ABOUT FALLING DOWN, FAILURE IS STAYING DOWN..........

Re: 2013 club of the year : Wed Oct 02, 2013 2:27 pm
I'd say that these mascot things don't really work, i've never seen the attraction. I've taken three kids of my own over the years as many folks would reccognise & appreciate & it certainly isn't a mascot which draws them to rugby matches !

The cost of paying at the turnstiles is the big issue from what i understand from other friends & colleagues. I know the club have to break even at best, I know giveaway tickets isn't financially healthy, but just like Linda, I don't know what the answer is. I did offer Mr. Steele a valid reason during the season why i'd chosen to attend a couple of Leeds Utd games rather than attend the RL at the Shay. I really wish the best for our club & the game in general, but i sincerely don't know what the answers are. I have big issues with some of the quoted/supposed salaries are at some of the top clubs in our division & if they're to be believed it's pretty scary.

Yes I can see where your coming from re` mascots Colin , and I feel the same re` the groups I don`t dislike them but I can`t see the money they pay for them especially when they are playing to a near empty ground `cos most don`t arrive till nearly kick off .I suppose the idea is to get the crowd down earlier and give people a bit of an interest whilst they are waiting for the match to start. I suppose the mascot and the cheerleaders apart from entertaining the crowd can also be used to promote "the brand" which is important to us .If it enhances a few peoples enjoyment of the matchday experiance eg a few kids enjoy the mascot , some people enjoy the groups and others like the cheerleaders then it may help to bring people in to the matches.

A Fev fan just posted on FB that 17 of their players would be full-time next season. My question is, even if they can afford it, there is still the Salary Cap to comply with. Is it still 300K? If so they must all be on National Basic. :?

Can someone who goes on their forum please explain to them the difference between "Team" and "Club" because it seems to be a distinction which totally escapes them.

Swifty perhaps?

Incidentally, how many threads do they have about Fax? How many have we EVER had about FCHT? The last one I remember was to wish them well in their push for promotion.

17 players employed full time on a 40hr working week it'd work out at £8.48 an hour. Just under £17.5k a year before tax.

But of course. You need a squad of 25. I don't think it'd be feasible.
