I'm pretty sure KH has deliberately set up pre season games against Batley, Fev and Leigh with the intention of seeing just how we match up against 3 of our most likely closest rivals and hopefully to try and do something about fixing any deficiencies in the playing department.

I am led to believe there is still some money available but the cap comes into it and will there be any quality players on the market not already signed up at this time of the year.

Think we will be fighting Batley out for 4th place behind Leigh, Fev and Sheffield. I feel that the problem is our Coach Setupand Tactics. We have had over 2 years of Karl as coach and its the same boring rugby with the same old problems. We have seen various halfbacks and hookers used who dont or wont create that much. We have used various players that dont seem to meet the potential or expectations required and that sees the team struggle. When the time to step up comes we fail more or less each time. I feel the coaching setup needs somebody who understands how to create and break defences down. Right now after 2 and a bit years I would not offer Karl a new contract, as for whatever reasons, the team and individuals have in the main, not met the standards required. Last season was a disaster both moneywise and sporting wise.

Cant say the players we have signed look anything more than solid. And I cant see our coaching staff getting the best out of the players going on the past. Sheffield and Fev are the 2 we are all chasing and think the GF winners will come from one of them two. Leigh have made some quality signings and have strength in depth. Maybe some questionmarks over the coach but I would put Leigh as 3rd favs. Fax and Batley dont for me have the quality or strength in depth the other 3 have. Batley will no doubt be influenced by Huddersfield with who they get to play. Kear is a good coach who seems to be able to get his team to step up at key times but dont feel they are as strong as last year.

The big thing for me is player improvement and we have a number of players who a couple of years ago should really have kicked on, for whatever reason they havnt and I think some of that blame has to lay with the coaching staff.
