Neil's Notes v Sheffield/Away Travel : Mon Mar 10, 2014 8:34 pm
Another game which kept you on your toes with the outcome looking over and done with a 14 point lead only to blink and suddenly just 2 points in it. Last week we lost out to a goal kick but it was our turn this week with the extra goal to count. With Sheffield beating us to get to last season's Grand Final it was a good result in the end.
Voting for the Shay Lounge Player of the Season saw Tommy Saxton picking up the first place and 3 points each against both Batley and Sheffield with the second placings going to Tony Tonks and Steve Tyrer respectively and third Dane Manning and Luke Ambler. After 3 games Tommy leads on 6 points with Steve and Ben Johnston on 3. Tony Tonks picked up the Halifax RLFC Hitman award at both the Batley and Sheffield matches. What a start he is having this season getting back to the form he displayed when playing against us when he was at Featherstone. We will soon be coming to the first draw in Club 1873 when we entertain Doncaster at the end of the month. There is still time to renew/join. Phone or E mail me to reserve your number. At the last count we had reached 142. Can we make it 150? The half time draw winning number yesterday was 512 for £187. Next Sunday sees our Challenge Cup game against Hull Dockers at Hull KR with a 2.00pm KO. The supporters coach leaves at 11.30. The cost has been kept down to £10 for adults with juniors £5 The following week we are at Whitehaven, Ko 3.00pm. The coach leaves at 10.00. Adults £15, juniors £10. To book phone me on 07714488080.
