Well done to all involved with team, great result. However ,unless I missed it, I haven't seen any reporting in the press eg RFL website. I would have thought the Courier would have done somthing seeing its Calderdale. Well done again!

It's on the Fax RLFC homepage, along with 180 odd pics that Mr. Riley took ! Nice to see such a strong contingent from the Halifax boardroom & coach in attendance at the game looking at Mike's 'photo's. Hopefully for my sake there'll be a dvd knocking around soon, i've been on my lad's side since he was 5 year old, coaching, encouraging, taxi-ing etc etc, & unfortunately I was forced to miss this one when he gets to lift the cup....
I understand the lads partied very hard & very late too, great upbringing if i say so myself 8) It's all about setting standards, goals & achievements haha.

Re: College Cup Final : Wed May 14, 2014 7:25 pm
More great news to report. Today the Calderdale college lads won through to the champion of champions final to played against Hopwood hall college at Cas's stadium next wednesday. Basically this was a Yorkshire top 4 vs Lancashire top 4 knockout comp & today the beat Wigan students college 39-38.
If/when they win this comp next week they will have gone all season unbeaten, winning their league, the Yorkshire cup & the national cup on the way. One last push lads for an unbelievable achievement !!!

Great work done by Lee Greenwood & his coaching team it has to be said, I appreciate the time & effort he's spent on further developing son No.2 and playing a part in him getting his appettite for the game back in a big way.

Last wednesday, 10 Calderdale lads made it into a 20-man Yorkshire squad that played at Nottingham Uni in a national counties tournament, eventually losing in the final to Lancashire. This was used to select the England students 25-man squad to play/tour Belgium in july and here's the official announcement released earlier today
( follow the link ) Congratulations to the FIVE Calderdale lads who made it into the squad, good luck & fingers crossed that you all make it into the final cut to 20-man.

Re: College Cup Final : Thu May 22, 2014 6:08 am
Congratulations to everyone involved with getting the Calderdale college RL squad in such shape mentally & physically to achieve what they have done this season as a group & as individuals. The lads maintained their "unbeaten" record at Castleford's "mend-a-hose" stadium yesterday, defeating Hopwood hall from Rochdale 42-22 to complete their season in the champion of champions trophy competition. As i mentioned last week, some of the lads will go on & represent their country again this season and while crediting the lads i must also congratulate Lee Greenwood on his coaching & man management of some of these individuals, some of them taking some serious confidence bashing after being released from the Halifax pro club recently, their dreams of making it as RL players in tatters for a while after, but i know for fact he's boosted some of these lads, giving them self belief & building them back up again to be great achievers and to be the best at the level they're currently playing at. I'm very grateful to Lee for the way he picked my lad up and continued to develop his RL qualities when he could so easily have walked away from the game after his release. I think the work that he & others have done, and the foresight into creating the Siddal Academy which includes their newly formed U23's side along with a couple of younger age groups within the "youth" bracket justifies the arguement towards developing young lads beyond the cut-off point of the current academies within the pro game at U19 & U20's. It's exposing the fact that it's purely a financial decision, but where do these lads go now ?
RFL take note, there needs to be a reformation of the old reserve style back up to the huge squads that 15 or 16 professional RL clubs are currently operating with.
I myself tipped off our club about a specific Halifax-based SL registered academy player who wasn't getting any 1st grade experience despite being on a decent length contract prior to this season commencing. Unfortunately, and i'm not privvy to the reason's why, but it wasn't to be this time but he's currently playing below SL level & getting m.o.m. ratings, having spent a couple of years in the academy of his parent club & with seasoned professionals internationals in front of him in the pecking order, i'm chuffed that he finally got his opportunity & has grasped it with style.
Well done again to all the Calderdale college lads on their achievements this season & for the build up to this season over the previous few seasons, some of these lads might never play in the same team ever again but i'm sure going unbeaten & winning everything before them will have bonded them for years to come with their memories of their achievements.

Well done, Calderdale and once again excellent points from marillion man, Colin great to see Jake score, according to the match report he "stepped his way over" Duncan would have called it "nifty footwork"
You told me Jake was a bit/lot down after his Fax experience but credit to him and Lee for him bouncing back.
Great photo on the fax website of Callum scoring, he must be fast as he's left the ball behind. I think he is also one who has had disapointment, lets hope some of these lads get a second chance.
