I would support the club even if it had a squad of 18 Aussies.
So would I if the said aussies were Fax players. Indeed at one stage in the past we almost had a full team of 'em. Jubilee Refreshment Rooms, Sowerby Bridge. Elland Catch The Rainbow 4.1 % Mmm!
It was stressed at the meeting that the DR link up would only happen if it was in our best interests. Halifax RL would not allow the SL club to use us to get players returning from injury match fit (the example given at the meeting was Adrian Morley turning out for Swinton). The link up with a lower club would allow players such as Joe Martin, who may initially struggle to hold down a first team position, the opportunity to get some game time. Halifax appear to be (temporarily at least) ditching the U20s this year. I am against the principle of DR, but it is beginning to look as though we will get left behind if we don't look into getting some benefits from the system, especially considering that Richard Marshall has had the bulk of his squad chosen for him by Karl Harrison.
If you believe that we would have complete control of other clubs players and that it would benefit Fax in the long run to go DR you're truly deluded I have to say.

I don't believe that I suggested we will have complete control of their players, merely that we wouldn't be forced to accept players that would not benefit our team eg short term loans to get their first teamers match fit. I also don't think that it will benefit us in the long run, but it may assist Richard Marshall to bring in the type of player that he wishes to make up his team until contracts begin to expire. Let's face it, Karl's recruitment in prior seasons wasn't always faultless. I wish the RFL would scrap the whole system so that every team could be starting from a level pegging, but I don't think our friend, Mr Wood would see common sense if it slapped him in the face.

Fair enough but we Should have complete control of everything to do with our own team/club surely. It is so belittling to accept owt else. At the end of the day there are some people who may, grudgingly, accept our use of DR for a short period if it benefits us. I haven't met, or heard of anyone who actually wants us to use it or who even think it is morraly right, and I think that says it all. Percy's Moorhouses Santa's Spell 4.0 % Mmm!

But you have no nead to worry, you won't be there. Bacardi and coke, dual Reg, 37.5 Mmmmm,
Of course we did, we played in challenge cup finals & won a championship with them amongst other things in the mid-late 80's, Hudd's point is that they weren't on dual/reg from Canterbury Bankstown or some other Aussie club, the were Halifax players for that period and only Halifax players.
I think the safest thing to do in Mr Marshall's situation now is to seek out "season-long" loan deals rather than dual-reg any players he's lining up from SL clubs if they're unable to sign permanent Halifax contracts. Who would that harm ? It's just a different title for the agreement between all parties concerned. Let's imagine the RFL ( or more to the point the greedy SL clubs ) drop the dual-reg system, it'd be termed "loan" deal anyway, just like in the past.
