Just got back from sunny Barrow. Played in sunny conditions on a pitch with grass!
Very few mistakes and even less penalties in first half, lead to a great platform on which to score some great tries with Ben Kaye to the fore on clean breaks in the first quarter. Excellent backing up in numbers around the ball carrier ready for off load was a big plus( we are definitely fitter this year and gradually removing the 5 drives and a kick plan A.) Divorty just followed Morrell around and was put through gaps for fun.
Several changes to the side from last week but that didn't stop the 40 nil half time score! That second half , first 20, saw no Morrell, Kaye, Moore on the field and it did disrupt the flow. However, by the end of the game we had re established a 40 point gap, though credit to Barrow they stuck at it and actiually drew the second half 16 a piece (shades of Ross Strudwick!)
We did make more unforced errors in the second half and the penalty count started to ramp up especially on the last tackle. We also conceded on last tackle kicks in the corners. Something for the coaching staff to work on.
Job done with a crowd of 956 watching.
Off out for a beer to celebrate!
