Re: TV Funding for live middle 8s : Fri Aug 07, 2015 6:37 pm
Too many talking without knowing the facts. The Super League clubs put the TV money into one pot at the start of the season. The reason behind this is because different clubs deserve amounts of money. Saints deserve more than Hull FC for example as Saints are on TV more often and have sponsors logos (First Utility + Sky) painted on their pitch; Hull FC don't allow these to be painted on the pitch. It's the Super League's clubs views that some clubs do more for the sponsors than others, so deserve more of the Sky money. (For which i agree with)
You only get the Sky money after the 1st game, this 1st game is seen as "your way of contributing to the competition", so Leigh would have only received this money for their home game against Wakefield. Halifax wouldn't have received this money if its was available to Championship clubs as they're only hosting one home game at present.
This is done by the Super League clubs solely, so the RFL didn't have anything to do with this.
