2015- The Good, The Bad and the Ugly : Fri Dec 25, 2015 11:48 am
I've been thinking recently about this last year and how it went, ended on a huge high note but there was plenty of other good bits along the way.The Good
Goes without saying the last game of the Middle 8s at Odsal was a high point for many if not all fax fans, but I think the middle 8s in general were a fantastic effort, Biggest loss came against Salford (if I recall correctly), which given the gulf in playing budgets wasnt too bad
Another highlight in my mind was the "Home" fixture vs London over at Keighley, besides always having a great day out over at Keighley as usual, the game was possibly a turning point in the season, possibly for both clubs. We went behind in the opening few minutes but came back and destroyed them, then went on a run of wins that put us into the top 4.
Another good thing this year was the response to Danny Jones' tragic and untimely death, I was one of many Fax fans who went to Keighley on the Bank Holiday monday the day after and there was already a number of shirts from across the game on display, the awareness that has been raised of Sudden Cardiac arrest since, as well as the huge amount of money raised shows that there is plenty of good left in the world and as RL supporters we can pull behind a cause very well.
The Bad
Alex Brown, Dont know what happened there as he was never bad for Batley but something went seriously wrong when he put a fax shirt on.
London away, long way to go, awful ground to get to, supporters with a drum and a game that we should really have won
The Ugly
Batley away, 6-2 win in horrible conditions, however wasnt actually a bad game, Matt Place's only try for Halifax that day too I'm told. Did make me think of players who have only scored 1 try for fax in their time with the club (Gareth Moore is on that list but that should change soon)
Anyone want to expand on any of the above headers?
