Announced tonight by Sheffield that he has signed for us for next season.

Good signing pity we couldnt have got him for this season but at least he has seen the light now.

I too would be happy with him joining us for next season. But i thought he was under contract with Sheffield for next year this is a strange one for me.

Good signing for fax one of the better props in the championship and coming into his peak years , think he’s a local lad too , I think we went in for him a couple of years ago but the deal fell through. I read an article that said we went for dean whare too but ultimately lost out to London .

Has always looked good when I've seen him - it is pathetic of Aston to try and steal any positive publicity the club might try to generate. From memory this has been going on since the Barlow signing- he certainly bears a grudge! Can't believe we'll keep all our existing props plus Douglas - I know Maher seems to have dropped of the radar but think he's on a 2 year deal.

My bad regarding Brandons contract. I thought he had 2 years starting from this year but it was from last year so he will be off contract at the end of this season and free to join us. As for Aston i rate him as a coach but what a pillock of a human being acting like this.

Unfortunatley it is something that has to be allowed to happen, players get played a pittance and its a huge risk getting near the end of the season without a contract. Who would cover their wages if they were to pick up a serious injury near the end of the season so nobody would be willing to sign them.
Luckily most players and clubs have the integrity to keep such moves which are common under wraps. Aston shows what sort of a person he is by throwing his player under a bus like this.

Accept what you say,having no knowledge of the length of rugby contracts or the injury payment entitlements....however,the current system undermines the 2023 season and I wouldn't want to be saddled with his 2024 contract if he gets badly injured in Sheffield's last game or want him contracted for next year if we go up.Conversely if Sheffield go up what a mug he'd look.
