James Child, saw him at Fev and he had a shocker, he also refed Widnes vs Oldham and had a poor game. He certainly knows how to ruin a rugby match.

If James Child is the ref in this game , its no wonder 19 penalties so far. He was terrible at Widnes , and apparently as bad at Fev . The man should not be a referee , he has no idea what to do.

i think halifax will have had harder training sessions in spain last week than the effort of barrow today, they was plenty of penalties in halifax's favour but barrow's discipline was awfull and most of them was justified but he could have let the game flow a bit more than he did, barrow also had two players in the sin bin

they were bad but we didnt get a set of six without a penalty the game ws getting boring and very union like.

Typical game against typical cumbrian opponents - they are always scrappy affairs. Barrow's discipline was awful, there should have been more than 2 in the bin.

Its hard keeping up with who is playing where these days. one point we had gleese at stond off and govin at centre. crazy times.

very scratchy performance with some highlights. still, playing in 2nd gear and winning so comfortably, is a good sign.

Pats goes from strength to strength...literally.

Have to agree with the above comments.

Never really got out of 2nd gear, but didn't need to. Barrow were really disappointing, never looked like threatening our line and they only scored from Fax's weak link, the interception from a suicide pass, twice. Will we ever learn.

Very pleased with the 2 stints from Matt James on his debut and so nice of him to score a try shortly after me yelling my personal request for one from the stands.

Looked to be carrying a few knocks by the end of the game. Usain hobbled away to change ealry and Blacky looked to have damaged his shoulder and seemed in trouble a couple of times with it.

Dirty tactics from Barrow must have played a part in it and I think the ref was not strong enough by clamping down and showing his rumoured favourite red card.to them. I know he sin binned 2 players but they did not learn their lesson and the persistent high tackles and disruption in the tackle spoilt any chance of a flowing , entertaining game.

I don't think the ref had a bad game today; he only gave what he saw, and that should have told the teams how he was going to control the game. He didn't let the game flow as he could/should have, but I think that there would have been some right punch-ups had he let things slide. Remember, he isn't the one who commits the offences, just the one to punish them.

Barrow showed their intent early by trying to decapitate Blacky twice early on, and this served only to put them on the back foot. They might be a different prospect when they get their overseas players playing, but they sure need to improve their atrocious discipline long before then, because it won't win them any prizes.

It was interesting to see four hookers in the Fax squad today, (Penky, Gleeson, Govin & Beswick), and difficult to tell who was playing where at times. Some of our passing still needs sorting, (I know it's still early doors), and we need to stop trying to score off nearly every move, but we showed we are adaptable and can turn on the style when we want to. Nice to see Govin back and to finally have Matt James pull on the Blue and White. Good, wasn't he?
