Dual registration of players. : Sat Jul 18, 2009 5:54 am
For those who don't know, a lot of the SL clubs are hoping to bring in the "dual registration" of players as a rule very soon. You may have read Brian McClennan talk about it in the trade press this week.
What this means is that they ( SL clubs ) can gobble up any potential talent they spot in the lower leagues and offer them a contract, but because of whatever reason they can "loan" the player back to the club they took him from whenever they feel like it.
They're just in the process of doing it with Kyle Amor from 'Haven, Hudds have done it with McNally and there'll be loads of other intsances up & down.
What are your views on this subject ?
Personally, I wonder where the game is going with this idea, as it smacks of my old favourite the top clubs signing players just so that their rivals can't have the player in question, it's similar to the "loaning" of players like Saints do with Scott Moore and Matt James of Bradford to us.
Yet again, it looks like they'll bring in a rule and the rest of the RL in the tiers below SL will have to fall in line, but who are the main beneficiaries of the "dual registration" ?
Opinions please.
