Of course we are looking at Australia for top talent, You wont make a success of SL without it. Warrington are probably the best British club with regards to imports but everywhere else there are Ausie's galore. We cant expect our current crop of youngsters to make us competative in SL, If thats what you thought then it says more about you than it does of any seeming problems with todays decision. And when you think of how far into our player pathways structure we are it shows how much work others in the championship need to do to compete with SL clubs in 3 years time.
And we were doing this because we believed our bid was stronger, No gimmicks, No freebie games to take our attendance above 2,500. Just plain hard work and investment. No players will be contracted to Widnes for SL just yet, but many players will have been looked at ready for the inevitable.
Widnes are aiming to compete in SL, Not just coast along in the hope of causing the odd upset. To do that, We will need the best players we can find at the right price.
