As there seems to be a couple of threads going on this subject i thought i'd start a new one.

I now live over the pennines now but am a season ticket holder and attend all home games and most of the away games.

Thought you might be interested in Slafords City Reds Marketing ploy to increase crowds. They have teamed up with a local rock radio station in Manchester, On the radio staions website they do a piece on Salford and you can sign up and they send you a card to allow you to attend the next home game free. I joined at the begining of the season as my missus and lad wanted to go watch them play Wigan. But now a couple of days before every salford home game i get a text saying my card is activated for the next game.

I know we have a partnership with the pulse was thinking maybe we could do something similar. it may get another couple of hundred every week. The good thing about this is even the kids can sign up and get a card through, so no need to get free entry with an adult. was just thinking about the teenagers who might want to come down to the shay on a sunday afternoon to get away from the folks and maybe become hooked and fans for life

good idea.

obviously they didnt use these scheme for their challenge cup tie this weekend!!!

Salford did use it, got a text saying get in for £2 and even that didn't work hee hee

How would you stop your ' less loyal but regular ' fans from taking advantage of the offer ?

starbug i think your missing the point mate. the offer was only for one game. I don't know why it keeps getting activated. but to offer it to juniors on their ownis a good idea,rather than kids free with a paying adult.

like Linda has mentioned on a previous thread we need new blood coming down to watch our fantastic game

I'll agree all day long about the kids bit , but I still know of a few dozen regular Leythers who if that deal was available , would take it up rather than pay to get in , as was put on the other thread , giving out freebies successfully requires the club to be clever and able to communicate with your existing fan base , otherwise it either gets abused or upsets existing fans

When I was a young lad, I started supporting Fax in 1988. Attendances were around 7000 to 9000 regular.

The reason for this was

a) They'd reached a cup final twice
b) 3 teams got promoted and relegated from Top-Tier giving more interest even at Div 2 level.
Even when we were in Div 2, we had crowds of around 5000.
c) Pubs closed at 3pm
d) Bradford Northern & Huddersfield Barracudas were strugglers.
e) Not many folk had days out elsewhere in the winter
f) No SkySports football on a Sunday

A perfect opportunity for "floaters" to pop up to Thrum Hall!

Its a bigger consumer world now & the "floaters" prefer to spend their money elsewhere rather than pay over-inflated prices to watch Champ rugby when they could save their £20 for beer money and take in a Sky footy match in the pub.

SKY/RFL are to blame in the main.
