I have just watched the game back and to say I am baffled is an understatement.

As I understood it, once the player who kicks the ball gets in front of the players they are onside, therefore when Ben Black got to the ball, every single halifax player was behind him, so therefore onside. Even the commentators (for what its worth) agree with my interpretation.

Is this a rule change?????

I thought that too, once ben black had chased down the ball he played everyone else onside, i thought this in real time and when i got back and watched it on sky...Not wanting to sound sour because we lost i believed it was the wrong decision.

im not sure if theres a new ruling were the player who kicks the ball cant play the players onside who were in a offside position,therefore the players infront of the kicker cant interfere in the play

No rule change, rfl rule book section 14, 3, d.

An offside player is placed onside if one of his team kicks or knocks the ball forward and takes up a position in front of him in the field of play.

It seems to me that the video ref got this wrong.

We must move on, but its not too much to expect the video ref to get it right.

i have finally dragged myself to watch it - don't think Thomason or the 4th official got the big calls right - ah well, moving on...
