sad really but a sign of the times, with people going online more and more for news and shopping it was inevitable really.
I feel sorry for the shops who get business through people calling to buy their paper (like me) and anybody who will lose their job at the Courier apart from that miserable sod Michael Peel.

How many people will pay for an online version of the courier? I know The Times online is by subscription now, but thats a national paper, I don't know if a local paper running on reduced staff could produce enough content to be worthwhile to charge for.

From what I saw on Twitter, they'll be cutting back on staff reporters, and the feature writers will now be based in Wakefield.

Probably the end for the Brighouse Echo, JP closed the Office last week, and the Hebden Bridge Times will probably go the same way, probably just have a section in the weekly

I guess that would be dependant on how much they charge for it. I have not purchased a paper copy of the courier for well over a couple of years, yet I read it daily online.
