RFL try make current SL clubs "achieve Super League status" : Wed Oct 10, 2012 3:06 pm  

Just reading a story on the Sky Sports RL page about Cas Tigers thinking about staying at Wheldon Road. This caught my eye:

"The RFL are mindful of the testing economic climate and how it is impacting on the game generally. As a result, licensing requirements are being relaxed to enable clubs to explore different routes to ensure they achieve Super League status."

So what about clubs who already have a Super League standard stadium in the Championship or clubs who despite the "testing economic climate" are upgrading their grounds?? I know I'm wasting my time in stating that some clubs in the Championship are achieving well at their level and deserve a shot at the next, where as some clubs in Super League are performing like sh*t and only seem to have their ground to worry about (if that now).

i read the same and thought what is the point when SL is altering rules to suit certain clubs.

Of course if the RFL are not thinking about the future they act now or be left behind , i personally think Karl H will agree to keep his players fit and will allow them to catch up with their careers depending on the time .

Anything the RFL says now bores me. It is such an amateurish organisation when it comes to communicating things properly. Frig knows how they keep making profits.

It's just yet another example of the RFL altering their own rules to make sure they don't lose face! Fax lost out on first Super League application due to the state of the stadium facilities.Now its not essential due to the economic climate!So Fev are spending money to improve, Leigh have a cracking stadium and Fax council now have improved theirs-for what? Casvegas ground is something out of the dark ages, as Thrum Hall was at the end, and its looking like they are financially incapable of doing anything about it with their boss Steve Ferres 'Hoping' it wont be neccessary to go into administration! Yet another super league financial criterea broken by yet another super duper league sanctioned club! Scrap the franchise, put somebody with rugby league and business accumen in the box seat and close this sorry chapter in our great game before its too late!

I'm glad fev are upgrading the ground we needed it sorting and our pitch will be 100m long when finished and should look good.

Over the next 18 months it will be nice to see what happens because as you say there will be some good grounds in the championship and they will have to find another reason not to let people in

Still think there will be S/L 1 and 2 sooner rather than later and who knows even dare I say P&R

Is anyone really surprised by this?

Again, I say it's time for the RFL to show us the bit of paper with the names of their preferred super league teams written on it and say "could the rest of you kindly and quietly disappear as we know not what to do with you? It's increasingly more difficult when you guys keep pointing out the ridiculous rule changes we make that we think we'll get away with!"

My money is on fax not getting in cos they may do better in SL than when Mr Creosote knacked it all up for us with "project bluesox". Can't have him being shown up for the clown he is when he is "in charge"
