Tetley’s Challenge Cup third round draw : Wed Mar 13, 2013 12:27 pm  

The draw for the third round of the 2013 Tetley’s Challenge Cup will take place in Oxford today (Wednesday March 13) when 36 clubs enter two pools to determine the 18 ties that will be played over the weekend of April 6 and 7. The clubs will be split into separate pools of 18, Pools A and B: Pool A will comprise the 14 Kingstone Press Championship clubs plus four Championship One clubs; Pool B features five Championship One clubs, French clubs Toulouse Olympique and Carcassonne and the 11 winning teams from last weekend’s second round ties. Ahead of the main draw at 1.00pm, a preliminary draw will take place to randomly determine which Championship One clubs will be placed in Pool B. TV actor Kevin Whately, who is better known to many as Inspector Lewis from the popular ITV series, will draw the clubs from Pool A while Bruce Ray, the Communications Director of tournament sponsors Carlsberg UK, will draw clubs from Pool B. A third selection will be made during each pairing to determine which side will have home advantage - however French clubs Toulouse Olympique and Carcassonne will both play away to their third round opponents. The draw will be the first in the competition’s history to be conducted live on the social media site Twitter. All 18 ties will be tweeted as the pairings are made from the Rugby Pavilion at Iffley Road, Oxford. To follow the draw simply follow @TheRFL on Twitter. <- we shall be retweeting the draw too! Should be interesting how the DR players go, can't see Keinhorst, Hood and Achurch wanting to get cup tied for the Hawks and miss out on a possible final, same with the Wire players.

To reply to seanfax, yes it is the same team as will be taking on our Under 20s at Brighouse Rangers on Sunday KO 12 noon

We had been asked by Oxford if we were prepared to play them in a friendly prior to their season starting and agreed. It has to be at Brighouse because it seems that the Shay pitch cannot take 2 games on the same day.

After the Under 20s game we have invited the Oxford team back as our guests to watch the first team play Hunslet. . I guess that after the draw they will be even more interested in watching them!

It may not be appealing but, the players have to be payed the club needs the revenue, and it's still an afternoon out.
Come on, everyone, if you don't watch all the cup games then don't expect to get a ticket when we get to the Final.
