Dual Reg Debate - Fev Chief speaks : Wed Mar 20, 2013 10:13 am
Dual-registration is bad for the game, says Featherstone Rovers chief

Can't disagree with anything Craig Poskitt says there really. interesting that he says that some relationships are starting to break down. Could that be like at Whitehaven where Dave Woods has in some games made it clear he won't pick DR players from Saints but instead use players from his own team.

Re: Dual Reg Debate - Fev Chief speaks : Wed Mar 20, 2013 11:08 am
Blog here on love rygby league About how Ben Davies at Widnes has been left in the lurch, unable to force his way into the first team at Widnes, but with Workington only taking DR players when they need them, he's not getting any game time.

He won't be the only player in this position, but what will happen in the medium to long term, will the Players union start making noises against the system? will players unable to get regular games at lower SL sides decide to go part time and join a championship side in the hope that they'd be first choice, or will they simply be lost to the game.

There's also the flip side to the blog, where some teams are operating a smaller squad this season as they know they can bolster their numbers with DR players, I'm sure I read somewhere that Swinton only have 19 contracted players this season, so owing for injuries without DR players they could struggle to raise a team.

With clubs running smaller squads, someone somewhere is no longer employed who may otherwise have been

Not really news, is it? Of course it's bad for the game. Of course partnerships are breaking down.

No more than I expected.

I think the real news will be when a club speak up about the difficulties they are having from a deal, or scrap one altogether.

Here is quite an angry reaction to some Swinton's fans comments on their new coach-

http://www.swintonlionsrlc.co.uk/compon ... ssage.html

If the supporters are so against it at some clubs, they should be putting a statement out via their supporters club/trust or similar organisation, make it known.

Is having a pop at the fans on the official website the right way to go about things? Couldnt see a team like Fax or Sheffield doing that

The Swinton thing is Barmy, to say that in private conversation could be ok depending on who it is with, but to to put it on the official website is mad, potential backlash and further upsetting already annoyed fans could be massively damaging.

All clubs come under fire from their own supporters from time to time. the correct thing to do here would have been to acknowledge that some fans were concerned about the appointment but the club felt they had the right man and hoped that with the supporters continued backing that the team would continue to improve on the field.

FAILURE ISN'T ABOUT FALLING DOWN, FAILURE IS STAYING DOWN..........

Re: Dual Reg Debate - Fev Chief speaks : Wed Mar 20, 2013 5:04 pm
Just read the match report for the North Welsh Wales Crusaders v Rochdale Hornets game at the weekend & Lee Gaskell amongst others played for Hornets. This surely cannot be the way forward for the game. Also, Clive Griffiths questioning the system "we need to have a serious look at the situation when you've got SL players turning out for one championship club one week and another the following week"
There was controvesy before the kick off with questions over the eligibility of Hornets' Joe Greenwood.

Just scrap it NOW & stuff the SL clubs & their fringe players.

Not only can you speak in different languages but you can have a different interpretation of what you are saying all at the same time.

Someone else in the political arena from Sheffield has managed the same thing for the last couple of years, must be in the water. Time for. :SHOOT:

I've never said anything else. It's a bad idea, it'll collapse, that's why I'm not concerned.

If you'd just read my posts and not make up your own interpretation, we'd get on fine.
