Very disapointed tonight, excellent first 20 mins which should have brought more points. Exit Tonks and from there down hill. Perhaps i'm showing my age, perhaps I don't understand modern Rugby League, but, does anyone like me remember when a scrum half would feed the scrum, take the ball and make a break, pass to the stand off who would carry on until the centre scored or passed to the winger. Is that too much to ask? I remember forward breaking lines, I remember coaches who had more than one game plan. I don't mean any disrespect, I love my club and any one involve with Halifax RLFC and I will be there next season, but, in view of all the hard work and financial support our board AND BACKROOM STAFF have put in I feel somewhere this season we have been let down. Just my humble opinion.
I don't understand this perverse idea of replacing players by the stopwatch. Tonks was the best forward on the park during his first stint, why replace him ? Stringer played until HT, Holden only got a maximum of 5mins before HT, WHY ?
Maybe i'm watching the wrong sport, but at least play to your strengths.

No Colin your watching the right sport, It's just very confusing, as Les Dawson said "I'm playing the right notes but not necessarily in the right order" Give Worrency a two year contract, don't play him again, Take Tonks off when he is smashing them, bring him back when it's too late, pick Holden, a promising lad, bring him on with four mins to go in the first half, going to change the game isn't he? Confused.com. ?
That was poor tonight and another season over... Can't call the effort but we simply weren't good enough. I'm thinking fresh ideas are needed as the lack of on field progression is a worry with next year such a pivotal season. Sheffield and Fev are light years ahead.....
First class effort again. You will not win anything against half decent sides playing that way though (unless they have a shocker, as per Sheffield two weeks ago). It says it all for me really, when we seemed totally inept when actually passing the ball down the line in the last minute or so. Surely that's an absolute basic?
If we are to continue to carry out the same game plans and methods next year, we MUST bring in a further assistance coach/coach who actually played at half back/hooker and may have some idea as to improve this aspect of our game, at least so we have an option or two!
The lads gave it their all the effort was there but that second half summed us up perfectly, we resorted to the one pass and smash 'em mentality and our passing was too slow, Sheffield picked the runner off with ease, we have no pace out wide maybe Ben Heaton apart, the left hand side never looked like breaking their line. Sheffield taught us how to play good rugby, their second and third tries showed us how to run the ball at pace and were excellent. We have to learn they play nice rugby which is pleasing on the eye, have a good kicking game and can pass the ball fast. Karl lets see us do that next season please.
It was Thursday night, a stupid kick off time and Sheffield brought about 100 absolute tops probably not that many. We did virtually no advertising around town so not surprised plus our rugby has not been very entertaining for most of this season.
