Really good first performance and really cant say a bad word about anyone who played and despite changing the team around a lot we always seemed organized which really shouldnt be the case. Our defence was superb for most of the game, their tries coming from kicks rather than clean breaks.
You can tell the defensive system has changed, numerous times players steamed out of the line to shut them down while others covered over for them causing confusion in the opposition play. We must have charged 3 kicks down and I cant remember the end of a set where we didnt pressure the kicker which was great to watch how eager the players were.
I thought standouts were Taylor, Kaye, Ambler, Divorty, Manning and some notable mentions for Maneely who looked dangerous, moore and Calahane who both were a handful and Place who looks a bit of a class act, his short ball to Tyrer for his try was pure quality.
Not going to get too excited because KR had a lot of young players in but the signs are there and we probably beat a team that is better than most teams outside the top 4 in this league.
Great points Gregg particularly about the defence.
I was not privy to the conversation so perhaps Halifaxstephen might come on and expand, but, basically a couple of the KR board were very impressed with our defence and the organisation.
I thought Place's kicking was superb, that little grubber which we got on the end of.
I also thought Robbo was superb, a few selection headaches for Richard?
A good following from the Fax Faithfull
Mind you the man of the match surely was Halicat, how he refrained from eating that budgie who kept pulling his tail I'll never know.
Great enjoyment, how ANYBODY can't be excited beat me.
Ps Many thanks to Jason Netherton who came over onto the terrace to have his picture taken with grandson Halifaxwilliam and his friend Halifaxtom.
