Not one to cast aspersions but in order to get an informed view, I have to ask on here really so what is the general view on Tony Abbott? As a keen follower of both clubs (but mainly Fax), I am very much aware of the Shaymen's view which is of course not good.

I would also never look a gift horse in the mouth however given some of the comments Tony has made, I just do not get a fuzzy feeling about the guy. Reading Sunday's programme with an open mind, my feeling was let's give him the benefit of the doubt however the opening paragraph included the word "I" about half a dozen times! "I had to call in favours", I arranged this, I did this. Not exactly humble stuff.

Nonetheless, I hope I have him all wrong and that he genuinely has our best interests firmly at heart?

As a keen supporter of both clubs too i can echo your concerns.The way i see it now though is that many months after the shay purchase fiasco he is still working/supporting the club and not 'done a runner'so i take that as a positive sign for the future.

I dont trust him but maybe thats the accent. I think he brought a few things on himself where as I think some of the stuff was unjust that got thrown on him. The abuse he got over Heartbeat Of Sport was disgraceful and Im 100% sure there was nothing sinister in his involvement in that and his heart was in the right place. I also think some of the stuff over the Shay was probably not his own doing and a few of the emails seem to allude to that and it looks like it was someone in the council who thought it would be a good idea and Tony got made a scapegoat for that. We will never know the full truth over that though as there are too many people in the council trying to cover their tracks. The meeting over the Shay was cringeworthy and at times he looked like a rabbit in the headlights almost as though he had no idea what was going on and to start with a blatant lie did his creditability no good at all.

Im am sure he has done a lot of good things for the club though and probably at a lot of cost to himself so you cant take that away.

PS. Now if he could just get his company to stop calling me every other hour telling me I can claim PPI that would be great.

PPS. I am sure Halifax Town fans will read this so im just wondering has my bet been paid up yet? Its not a good look regarding complaining about not paying bills and then one of their fans does not pay up on a bet.

Very true Freddie to many knockers on here,at times its like the Assassination Squad,it's a case of if nobody else wants to do it leave him to it.

No respect intended but you seem to have a hidden agenda against Mr Abbott.
Perhaps that's a little of you shared loyalty (which I commend) coming out.
Previously you took him to task for referring to KingS Cross Park.
Personally whatever my misgivings I would not air them on a forum such as this, the man has put a lot of investment into OUR club. It would be tragic for the future if he felt like walking away, which I understand he did after all the disgraceful vilification from the Town yobs after Shaygate and Heartbeat of sport.
Its very unfortunate that someone doesn't trust anyone with a London accent but then I have worked in quite a few different locations and learned to accept that its what a person does not how he says it.

Tongue in cheek that John. A lie is still a lie no matter how someone says it just the same way doing good work for a charity is on the flip side very good.
