Yer got to agree not inspired by this tinpot cup and playing for not very much other than getting home advantage if we make the Final, obviously its a cup so yes I would like to win it but have we gone for this season as we did not look up for it today really and are not playing well?
We didn't look up for it, although one high tackle and playing against 12 men seemed to provide something of a spark. That spark was defused with an ever so simple head-down drive to the line to put London back in front though. Possibly the thought that a win wouldn't make much of a difference (we weren't even smart enough to put the early 6-0 Swinton lead over the tannoy to gee things up a bit?), which of course is how it panned out in the end.
As I've said on a separate thread, we're pretty much guaranteed a spot in 1st/2nd of the lower 8's, and although a home tie in the final (if we get there) would be good, surely better to blood some of the up and coming reserve team that we spent our windfall from last season on. If not, when the heck do we start bringing them through?
Btw, I'm not the first to note this, but our passing between centres and wingers needs some serious attention before next season. This was highlighted when Sharp finally got a quality ball a few metres from the line for him to dive in at the corner. He's had a lot of criticism go his way, but in that moment he did show what a quality winger he could be for us if only he got better service.
