Awful, just awful.
What is annoying is that we can be so awful, show the opposition so little respect, and still put 50 points on them...like doing a shallow scrum kick and chase inside your own 10
Which brings me to my next point - Black seriously needs to get his act together.

we scored from this on Sunday & with the speed out wide that we have I think it's a good tactic.
As for Black, it isnt just him, annoys me when people just single out a player. Yes he made mistakes, as did nearly every player, but he still put himself in positions to set up quite a few tries.

Yes you are right, he had a hand or foot in 2 of blackpool's tries. My mistake. Perhaps my expectations are too high, of a half back that can pass without it hitting the floor. I am one of his biggest fans. he will improve, touch mahogany.
That said, 80% of the side were average or below tonight
Yes we had a shocker tonight & we haver & can play better, but lets have a reality check here. Nearly everyone has said how much better our defence has been this year. We made 4 or 5 changes tonight & still racked up 50 points.
We are unbeaten (unlike the so called favourite for the league) & our defence can & will be better. Come on lads & lasses, lets not start being fickle, accept it was a poor night at the office, but dont single out individuals as this wont do anyone any good.
It wasn't great or pretty but I think some people are going a little OTT with the moaning.. Even more so as I was stood infront of a couple of eternal moaners at the game.. Sure it was sloppy at times but we still managed to rack up 50 points.
Defence was a little shaky at times but it can't be perfect all the time and some of the guys playing tonight haven't played for a bit and it was obvious that we were trying things out so I think a little slack could be given to them.
Blackpool surprised me actually, quite a tough little unit who should go better this year in their league, they did the BASICS right. Black & Penky NEED to sort their ball control out! Their running game is the BEST in the league, their passing game is quite frankly shocking at times, I was impressed with Tamghart, Royston & Barker tonight though, still, this game was the ideal opportunity to give fringe players a run out, although none probably warranted Co-Op league selection, will be interesting to see the side for the Loughborough game
A member of this board texted me saying that a favourite player of mine wasn't having the best of games, seems like he wasn't alone.
TBH with the advantage of not being there, it was a game we were never going to lose and just to give fringe players game time and different combinations. I'm sure most of us, and the coaching staff have a fairly good idea of our first 13 at least.
No one will remember this game come the end of the season.
Its a bit early to get panicky or moaning about the way we are playing, and we did win the game putting 50 points on the board.... But
The dissapointing aspect of the game, for me, was the amount of times we dropped the ball. There were times when the pass was bad, so the ball was dropped, and there were times when the pass was good and we still dropped the ball.
I first thought it was down to the cold evening, and when it warms up a bit those balls will stick.
But it was the same cold for Blackpool and I don't remember them dropping the ball once, from a pass.
The other aspect was the interception. We had a number of passes intercepted (obviously one resulting in a try). We really need to be smarter with these flat passes when we are up against the defence.
But if they come off and we score it is called a super pass.
I bet Blackpool remember it ! The way they celebrated some of their tries was very enthusiastic and good luck to them in their revival.
Making five changes was always going to affect any side regardless of who comes in or drops out.
Whoever was doing the booing in the South stand needs to take a look at themselves, Haley, Bowman X 2, Chinny all local lads. What do the boo boys want ? If it had been a 60 or 70 point procession it would have been different, but we were faced with opposition who fancied the job but just didn't have the fitness or class that Halifax produced late in the game, job done, move on and plan for the next game.
Are the boo boys expecting Loughborough Uni to come and just roll over ? I don't think they will, they'll make the most of the experience and they are a sports Uni I think.
