This is the official RFL release...

The Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth round tie, Halifax v Batley Bulldogs, has been postponed pending the outcome of a RFL inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the fielding of an ineligible player by Halifax in their fourth round victory over Swinton Lions.

The RFL is investigating Halifax’s selection of prop Michael Ostick in the fourth round tie on Friday April 16. Ostick had previously played for Rochdale Hornets in a third round tie against FC Lezignan on Sunday March 7.

RFL Operational Rule B4:15 states that: “The RFL board shall disqualify any competing club which it determines to have fielded an ineligible player save where the club can show there is no fault or negligence.”

Halifax are co-operating fully with the inquiry. The RFL will be making no further comment pending the completion of its investigation.

Ten grand down the crapper.

I'm fuming. It's hard enough to maintain interest when we have a sporadic fixture list. This just makes me want to throw my 25 years of Fax history in the bin and do something else with my Thursdays/Sundays.

What an absolute disgrace... I call for Martin Hall Matt Calland and Michael Steele to be put in stocks, have eggs and toms thrown at them and to wander off from our RL Club.

I feel bad for people like littlerich and others who continually defend and support the club through thick and thin, always standing up for management, then this happens, but some of us have been saying for a while, we have some right muppets down there running the club.

You would have thought so wouldnt you? But with Fax and the RFL nothing suprises me,both appear to be as incompitent as the other.

wouldnt the player actually know whether he had played for another club a month or two before in the cup ?

1-Well did they take such action against (i think it was) Hull when they did it.

2-Who ever is at fault for this really should look at their position.

Don't you have a Guilotine (sp) in Halifax. Maybe this is the perfect opportunity to bring it back in to use!

I wouldnt put it past the RFL to give the all clear and then change their mind later but this is Halifax RLFC we are talking about...

What was Hull's fine? 100k?
