For me a little different angle to look at:

We are missing the "Dave Larder" / "Dave Wrench" type player - cool head and great knowledge of the game. Someone to control what is going on.

Jim Gannon for me is not that man but I feel he could be an asset used correctly. Use Joe Chandler with Bannister as 2nd Row with Sam Barlow at Loose but look at new props.

We are still missing Nash too. Greenwood has the "IT WILL TAKE A YEAR TO RECOVER" injury too a la Paul White. Look at Whitey, much better player this time around.

Make Bob Beswick captain and let Penky run!

Re: Time for Calland to go? : Sun Apr 03, 2011 4:10 pm
IMO if i had the choice i honestly would not have signed any of our current forwards Prop or second row for this season not one of them is good enough imo.

We have lost 2 fantastic Athletic props at this level in Siad and Moloney and weve replaced them with Chandler who imo has good potential and Gannon its just not good enough.

Barlow has been mickey poor this season hes on a big contract and i think we have let our hearts rule our heads on that one.

theres no-one there to put in the hard yards like Wrench and larder did last few seasons.

would maybe like to see Nash there at second row but i have been told this morning he didnt come back to training untill after pre-season had finished has put no hard yards in as of yet and is over a stone over weight.

Weve been too sentimental in our signings trying to give old boys one last swansong Gannon clayton frank holly jones to an extent smith barlow haley all not good enough.

Retain Fieldhouse ,greenwood, goddard, nash(if he can get fit), Patto, Big rob, maybe white, bannister, Black, Penky and bob and even yound chandler, maka and ostick rest can fck off.

get in a decent 6 ,13 and a couple of second rowers and props never happen at this stage of the season with the cap but this should have been looked at in preseason so frigged off atm

Same old story. All the things we are bad at we never improve and the rest of the league have worked out how to play us. Too slow, no ideas, no leadership, paper thin defence, no positioning, no discipline and no pride.

Calland needs to go now instead of waiting until we crash out of the NRC yet again. We may as well go to Toulouse with Bally in charge as it cannot make our chances any worse.

The team cannot defend and are utterly ineffective in attack. On the few occasions when they don't all stand still and flat at the play the balls they are predictable and bereft of ideas.

Why is it that so many players come to Halifax and become rubbish? For example, Sheffield were mad as hell when they lost Worrincy and then Barlow to us. Who amongst them would have them back now? I was praying that Barlow would get sent off today as we would have been more effective without him and conceded fewer penalties. He is just a thug and walks into every tackle.

The only players today who were other than clueless were Holly, Jones, Beswick, Aizue, White and Chandler. I have been one of Penky's biggest fans in the past, but I am afraid that he has lost it and needs to call it a day. We should play Beswick for 80 minutes as he is a far more effective hooker.

i think its time for mr calland to go!!!!!! and the reasons 4 it is the bloke doesnt even know what his best team is and we are about 8 games in if you take the nrc in to balance.the team is low in confidence we all know that but calland isnt the bloke to sort it this time as we dont have the team to get us out ov the poop this time.weve lost some great players in branno and shad and moloney and its showing big time.the signings calland has made are awfull clayton, smith gannon who was pants the first time round are just way past there best and as for cherrytree that guy couldnt break wind.we need a coach like karl harrison who will take us back to basics and play to a game plan instead ov this ov the cuff crap on your own line when you should be taking 5 drives and a kick and make them make a error in the half instead ov ours.

We've started bad, no doubt about that, but does the blame lay fully on calland?

Recruitment has been mixed IMO

Ratu had a decent preseason before getting a bad injury.

Gannon and Smith not taken a backwards step

Danny Jones was a good player for keighley, yet to show it for us yet (In games Ive seen, told he was good against Batley in the second half)

Clayton isn't good enough, and I dont think Fairbank is either (though according to some meathead that opinion is insulting his family name and will have me banned from watching rugby league  )

We lost some good forwards in Said, Wrench and Maloney, Gannon replaces Wrench and perhaps Chandler replaces Said, but we dont have a moloney type "nutcase" who apart from been an ok player, can get involved when the going gets tough and step up to it.

I dont think its time to call for Calland to go, but perhaps put some pressure on memebers of the team to start to perform, when we win, we praise them no end, when we lose, focus switches to the coach, it is his job to motivate them but the ultimate performance is down to them

Lets not forget that Calland as taken a pay cut plus the playing budget as been slashed and that shows with the loss of quality in Brano, Maloney and shad. I remember everyone being happy with our recruitment during the off season and saying our pack will smash everyone this season how stupid them comments look now.

As the coach he has taken a pay cut but what I cannt understand is why all the other coaches ? Both Holly and Larder were kept on as coach / players then there`s Damian Ball , Martin Gonzales helps with coaching as well as Under 23s and then he has Martin Hall for back up , there must be a sizeable cost there.

Not everybody mate said the pack wouldsmash everybody off the park. I personally had serious doubts as Gannon, Frank, Mikali, Larder are all over 31 and Gannon was always a penalty machine. And I remeber many saying Maloney not staying was a big miss as was Brannighan and Royston. Taking a Pay Cut was a big thing and I respect MC for doing it when he didnt have to do. But for me I see the same problems that have been woith us for years and nothing has changed. And today when I heard Bally mention about Negativity in the camp, then you have to question whether its time for MC to part ways with Fax.
