Anybody even dodgy Des who puts their money into a lower tier RL club has my utmost respect

As for us ' Leigh ' , for any of us to be a viable addition to SL , we need a strong competition to prepare in , and that needs strong clubs

And yes Karl is doing wonders at Batley

I agree with the bit about a strong Championship and I really do wish Leigh all the best.

If they've budgeted for 2500 crowds, then thats just bad business, I don't know what their average crowd is but I wouldn't think it was that big? especially since they havn't had the best of seasons, Schofield won't have been cheap to bring in nor pay off, and Nigel Wright isn't on peanuts either

No, but while the club may not have money coming out of the walls, we dont rely on one individual for an income, if we lost a sponsor, it'd be a blow, but ultimately we'd be able to find another one, we dont need one man to keep writing cheques. (Or however they like to pay people...)

A profit is a profit, there's not many clubs who turn one over, Batley did last year as well, don't know about others

Its never good to see any RL club get into financial difficulties true but when we lost out to Barrow the other year in the GF and for the league leaders trophy that was all down to Uncle Des's money as he lifted Barrow from an average NL2 team to one competing at the top of NL1. As we do not have a Sugar Daddy it made it a little hard to swallow. Now he is pulling back then yer it is good for us as they will not be able to buy the good players that they could before making them less competative.
We are not flush with cash ourselves but most of our revenue comes from our own efforts, I am sure our Directors do their bit and put money in when they have to but we do not rely on a Des Johnson and sometimes a Sugar Daddy can make the difference as they can splash the cash to buy success.
