The post match inquest will say we handed that to them on a plate, therefore the better side 'on the day' won.
Everytime we coughed the ball up in promising positions, The Bulldogs went on to punish us.
While the Referee made some absolutely baffling decisions in the second half my dear friend ;-) Littlerich was right about our first half display.

But....

We can still win this comp from 4-5-6 position so i see no reason, with Nobby onboard, that we can't turn this round.

Disappointing first half but good effort in the second. Destiny is still in our hands for a playoff place. Frustrating to watch though. I thought the referee was very generous for us. Got to cut out the silly mistakes.

Thought that was a great game today , in red hot conditions by two really good sides ,, but as you point out the only downside was the inconsistency of the ref

He didnt miss it he said that we had gained an advantage by Black kicking the ball passed the advantage line even though he never had a chance of getting it seen as though 2 players held him back. Terrible decision.

Problem is that we are still struggling to make the top 6 at the moment although i have no doubts we could do well if we did.

Poor first half cost us but i guess if we can take anything out of it then we know we played that bad in the first half and probably still should have won the game, unfortunatley that dosnt help us in the league. We are carrying far too many players who are not pulling their weight or are just anonymous, i really have no idea why a couple of them are even in the team and if they watch the video back of some of the tackles they missed today they should quite frankly be embarrased.

The better team over the 80 minutes won. Can't knock Fax for effort but again, instead of playing the patient game, we reverted to forcing the pass at key moments.

Batley's defence was excellent, and Handforth's kicking was the difference.

I think the most concerning point for Halifax was how inept we looked in attack when Penky wasn't on the pitch. We seemed to lack ideas and, at times, it was like watching England Rugby Union passing the ball down the line, no-one moving forward, with it eventually ending up with an isolated winger.

Our kicking game was much better in the second half, but then having done the hard work and got ahead, instead of consolidating, we through a forward pass in their 20 metres and lost our momentum.

I think batley deserved the win, but black was held back from tackling the batley runner in their last score.
Struggling with injuries and go forward players in the forwards, batley are like the old Whitehaven team

You mean the one before their last try? That was my initial reaction over the try but there didnt seem to be a single complaint from our team.

A few people mentioned this and yes it was but it is so easy to defend against a team that only has lateral movement which is what we had for most of the game. How the Batley centre ran on to the ball at the opposite direction in the first half where he nearly broke our line is what we should be doing. It was a superb move and a superb half tackle by i think it was Patts that saved us. That was great rugby which was the opposite to watching us pass the ball from side to side without much forward movement for most of the game.

Quite the worst decision he made was when your player kicked the ball away at our play the ball under the sticks. He gave us the penalty which we took for 2 points but surely it was a professional foul and should have resulted in 10 mins in the bin.

To play a man down in that heat could well have been just a bit too much for any team.

I agree that some of his others were, shall we say, ones to think about!

Or perhaps the worst decision was never penalising Batley number 4 who could never get onside or Batley team for messing the play of the ball, or not penalising the player for pulling Ben black back, or for letting us get away with a blatent forward pass or etc. Etc etc................. Best team won, in my opinon, end of.
