Re: Fax 94-4 Myton FT and other cup games : Sun Mar 25, 2012 6:39 pm
A real good afternoon of rugby, although we are a bit embarrassing with the vocal support of our team at home (which is often 4 times louder from a quarter of the supporters at away games..???).

Our record win on two counts, but even saying that, credit to Myton who played a much more disciplined game in defence (massive gaps on both wings in the 1st half!) in the second half.

I trust a good day was had by all at the Shay, and good to see only the normal rough and tumble rather than some of the cheap shots (that, tbh, we've been guilty of when playing "superior" opposition...) we've seen in the past.

Decent game from the ref even if a bit lax on the offside rule (someone must have had a word in his ear at half time about the kick-off's!).

Slightly lucky (or brilliant, if we'd scored it!) Myton try. Good to see, but who's Ash?

And Behold, a pale horse. And on his back his name was death.

The weekend starts on a Monday.

Re: Fax 94-4 Myton FT and other cup games : Sun Mar 25, 2012 6:42 pm
:MOTOR: In the little time he got o'k some strong runs and at one time a swerve and then a sidestep. Yes you heard correct "a swerve and then a sidestep"
Every one did what was expected. Although I have to say Rob was below par (not knocking him before someone starts) and Thakery was very good.
Onwards and upwards. Sheffield here we come.

Ran hard, and even had a few side-steps in him! Failed to really break the line today, but would still want him on our team rather than the opposition. Great to see his enthusiasm in supporting some of our breaks.

Makka, Sam and Ross all did enough to show that competition will be hot for places in the Fax line-up this season (Sam maybe has a couple of couple of pounds to lose...).

I'm a real Rob fan (although he did have to produce his obligatory dropped catch today), but in my mind he's probably 5th choice in the back line at the moment...?

Not sure who Ash is, but I think the try scorer was No5 and I think his surname is James. How do I know? Well I think he had a No 5 on his back and the name James. But I could be wrong. Anyway, wasn't it good to see the delight when he scored. Mind you, taking his shirt of should have resulted in a red card and a heavy suspension! :NAUGHTY:

This is RL and taking your shirt off to display something that obviously meant the world to him is fine by me so long as it's nothing that could incite the opposition fans.

Red cards for trivia are for the round-ball game!!!

P.S. not having a go, but was a) curious who Ash was. and b) think it's riduculous that football players take their shirts off for no reason (the Myton player did have a reason), and c) am bemused why it's a yellow card in football!!

So am I and to be honest I think all of us are, the problem is, that because we like a certain player we are loath to criticise them. Rob hasn't played particularly well this season. But I think he will turn it around.
I might be wrong (very often are) but I think he has lost his confidence, and he doesn't seem to be enjoying himself at the moment.
If he plays against Sheffield he neads to up his game, they love to hate him. O'h and Sam as well.

Btw, sad that they can have their names and squad numbers in an amateur league and we can't?
