Good lad turning up in a suit. Nothing wrong with a bit of proffesionalism in an organisation that has lacked a bit of it over the years.
As long as the work gets done I don't see how it matters what the office staff wear for work, I know theres an argument that casual clothes = casual attitudes but anyone who knows people who work at the club (some unpaid) will know that they work hard.
Also, while Luke mentions in the blog about the way others were dressed, its rare you see them at a club event not in "business dress"

Inside the cage, hang a banana on a string and place a set of stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the other monkeys with cold water.
After a while, another monkey makes an attempt with the same result - all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon, when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.
Now, put away the cold water. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his surprise and horror, all of the other monkeys attack him.
After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs, he will be assaulted.
Next, remove another of the original five monkeys and replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm! Likewise, replace a third original monkey with a new one, then a fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is attacked.
Most of the monkeys that are beating him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs or why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.
After replacing all the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, no monkey ever again approaches the stairs to try for the banana. Why not? Because as far as they know that's the way it's always been done round here.
And that, my friends, is how company policies are made.
Hope without planning is about as futile as waiting for a harvest without planting

Think that's a bit harsh on the monkeys. Sometimes the monkeys choose to leave. Unlike the hotel California.

Elephants in captivity are trained, at an early age, not to roam. One leg of a baby elephant is tied with a rope to a wooden post planted in the ground.
The rope confines the baby elephant to an area determined by the length of the rope. Initially the baby elephant tries to break free from the rope, but the rope is too strong.
The baby elephant "learns" that it can't break the rope.
When the elephant grows up and is strong, it could easily break the same rope. But because it "learned" that it couldn't break the rope when it was young, the adult elephant believes that it still can't break the rope, so it doesn't even try!
It`s the same with horses, if you tie them to a post for long enough they will presume they are always tied. Hence why when you watch the old cowboy films where they gallop into town and screech to a halt outside the Sherriffes Office the horse stands still even though the reign is left dangling they just assume they are tied up.

It's the same with wimmin, if you make them stay at the sink and the cooker for long enough they learn never to leave.
