So what your saying is that that this idea has to "run before it has leanred to walk "
I think, that getting one club right will then provide a platform that could then lead on to a new business that could supply clubs with what they need and want, but FFS Starbug, i cannot belive u have said it won't work, if we all did that then we would never get out of bed in a morning!
I think its a pretty sound idea and has bags of potnetial, well done Ian and best of luck with the venture

Fax have too small market to sell to, lets look at how successful ' branding ' works
Imagine walking into your bank manager with this business plan
23 countrywide outlets
25,000 instant customers already loyal to the brand
Another 25,000 potential customers to target
Around 100 businessmen including accountants and lawyers to assist the company either free or very cheap ( club directors )
Around another 100 businessmen ( sponsors ) to draw advice from for marketing and other idea's
Initial orders 10 times bigger than one club allowing much cheaper purchasing prices
Empowering 23 other businesses with the potential to sell a new product to other localised sports clubs, be they amatuer, semi pro or even premier football clubs ( yes ambitous I know ) as well as schools, colleges, Universitys and even businesses via extra brands for work associated clothing
Bulk purchasing allowing a much larger range of products to be ' Marketed ' and allowing clubs to purchase specific marketing ' merchandice ' to be used by their community depts as giveaways to entice junior fans to follow their clubs in defference to other sports or other RL ( SL ) clubs
The potential to launch other ' brands ' not sports associated which have potential to gain footholds in the mass market
To encourage clubs to work together in other revenue making possibilities and get us away from the idea we are competing with each other off the field , we arent, ' Off ' field our competition is SL clubs and then other sports , not other Championship clubs
Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

All just my opinion, I contacted several clubs with my idea ( including Fax ) but the responses I recieved back were dissapointing to say the least, no real understanding of what I was actually looking to achieve, far too much " why should we help them ? " , or " you'll never get them to work with him " , or the best ones " We get free kit " , " when I was in the police they tried to get us to all agree to purchase certain vehicles, but all the different authorities couldnt agree "
Ultimatly Fax are too small to build up a mass market brand, they dont have the money , potential market share or the spread of location to do it, they might well save money and make a few extra quid than in the past, but that is all, I was looking for much more than that

Starbug,
I do agree with you, however, I think at present it is just a reaction to the poor service we have had from xblades over the last few years. They failed to deliver on all items they promised. this has caused embarrassment to the club the loyal servants in the shop and to Malcolm in particular who has taken a lot of flack (unwarranted). Lets see how it goes, any improvement will be welcome.

So your saying the idea is beaten before its even started, packup go home, sit onour hands, and be like the rest and say it wont work, and he won't work with him etc
Its not personal Starbug, but its easy to say how at and why it won's work
I for one think its a good idea, that has the potential to grow. I far as i am awere, no where has it been said this idea/project is going to take on the world, but rather aimed at a soultion for Fax and its issues with kit supplies! and as a soultion for that, i think it has great potential to do just that, and if it leads to other things fantastic.
I agree getting others to work together is always hard, but if you don't try, then nothing would ever be achieved other than saying it won't work!

I'd expect Fax to save a bit of cash and raise a bit more income than in previous years, and good luck to Mr Croad in that

You are not alone in having problems with supply ( we had issues with Kukri who source from China and ISC from Aussie,China ) , when it is bonkers for small individual clubs to not be buying local, I pm d Malcolm when he started this thread but still havent had a reply, I hope he's ok
As I said I hope it works out for you, just frustration on my part for what I saw as a huge opportunity
x-blades were sourcing stuff locally, and taking a cut, look at the Hoodys, while they were of a decent quality, they were exactly the same as a cricket club nr my work knocked out for their members, I'd rather we took the middleman out and put a few extra quid in our pockets rather than Mr Moore's.
If it works out, then in the future we may be able to help other clubs with theirs, but Rome wasn't built in a day, if Ian Croad started too big it wouldn't work, too many people would want different things, which he may then not be able to deliver, at least starting like this he can see what he can and can't get. what can be sourced quickly and of decent quality, and what takes a bit longer to get hold of.
