The council may be under pressure to save money, but the state of The Shay lately is becoming an embarassment, especially after how much money they spent to finish the east stand.
North Stand work still not commenced, new Scoreboard Pledged, and a pitch that gets water logged if "someone spills a glass of water" as Toby Higgins the ex courier reporter once said.
I understand that AFC Town Halifax have been getting some grief off the league over the amount of postponed games at The Shay.
This may sound a bit barmy, but under that scheme where individuals or groups can bid to take over the running of council services if they think they can do a better job, perhaps resurrecting the Shay Stadium Trust in a new form wouldn't be a bad idea. As long as the council deliver on the promises of the work they said they'd do first.
