Panicking over nothing. DR is just an extension of the loan system that we've had for donkeys' years. You can't say it's wrong in principle if you think the loan system is OK.

Personally, I think it disadvantages the (junior) clubs who use it. We've only had it in force about ten minutes and we're already seeing clubs who can't get the DR players they want because the senior club has got an injury problem and players complaining that they can't get in the side ahead of incomer DR players.

Your contradicting yourself again mate in saying "Panicking over nothing" and then by mentioning a number of disadvantages that it brings,of which there are many many more.

It is not about the teams that sign up for this scheme winning something that they normally had no chance of doing, you need to look at the bigger picture.

One example that will affect the whole game is the damage it will do to the structure and pathway for players who reach a certain age and for the clubs who will have nowhere for them to go to and play.

What are they supposed to do?
How many will be lost from the game for good?
Etc,etc,etc.

Well, that's your view and I respect it but to be honest, I like other teams to give themselves disadvantages. :thumb:

Now you're contradicting yourself. DR actually helps those players as we cannot, apparently, afford Reserve teams any more.

Total rubbish.

Now we have no option other than becoming a feeder for SL because they can't afford to run their own clubs to include a suitable setup for players of a certain age or are coming back from injury or are this that or the other outside of their first team.

What help does this give to the players of the Championship sides that from one week to the next don't know if they will be playing or not depending on what their SL partner decides to offer and what their club decides to accept.

This really helps and adds structure, stabilty and a clear pathway.

Don't worry, York will raise a team. We have 25 contracted players plus an under 20's squad too, so if the three Hull lads that played on Sunday can't play in the Cup, then I'm sure we'll manage.

This is rubbish this is all about one thing and that is SL clubs not being able (so they say) to afford to run an U23s team which is not good for the game end of story, lots of players especially forwards don't mature into good players until their mid twenties yet they have been cut from the game for cost cutting to pay for yet more Aussie imports!

Loans and dual reg are not the same, a loan meant that a player was with a club for the duration of the loan period unless the loaning club had an injury crisis and called them back usually with notice plus loans were rarer than dual reg. Dual reg means players can come and go during a season and are a lot more numerous.

I put this scenario to DR clubs fans, one week you have several good DR players playing for you and you have a terrific win but the week after some of those DR players are not available so you play without them and lose when you expected to win after the win the week before, how bad will that be for you???

it will happen and with large amount of bets placed on teams there will be match fixing allegations.

You've let your usual intellectual self down there Richard, quite the opposite i'd say with regards to who is financing reserve sides. If you took a closer look at Halifax RLFC as an example ( and I think Fev are similar ) a large effort is contributed financially by the supporters trust, thankfully we have a much appreciated bunch of volunteers who go the extra mile in their willingness & that allows our club to play a bunch of kids in their reserves set up.

SL you're having a laugh.

Wel, that's great. Of course, if you had no reserve grade/Academy/whatever side, presumably that money would be available to pump into other projects. All about priorities - and, of course, results of that investment.

I'm not in favour of DR. I think clubs should spend money firstly on what they need and then see what they have left for what they would like. That's what I do at home. Pay the mortgage, electric and stuff and then see how much beer I can buy with the rest. Player production isn't great in this country. I had to smile at Young Gary this week, saying that $uperleague clubs can compete with NRL clubs. Yes they can - but they need foreign players to bolster them up.
