Following is letter that i sent to the fans that had the names put on the shirts. Some fans only put their names and no email or postal addresses.
If you are one of the above send details to me at
malcolm@halifaxrlfc.co.uk and I'll add you to my mailing list.
Dear New Member,
I’ll introduce myself; I’m Malcolm Powell a volunteer at Halifax RLFC, I’m also the Chairman of the Halifax Independent Supporters Trust Ltd.
The reason for my letter is to introduce the trust to new members.
Before the end of 2012 the Club sold space on the playing and replica shirts where the supporters could have their name printed. The cost was £25.00 which included membership to the Trust for 2013.
I’d like to bring you up to-date on what the Trust actually does.
The Trust was formed with a view to purchasing shares in Halifax RLFC because at the time the Club was struggling financially.
Time changed and we along with the Town supporters Club and both professional clubs invested £5,000 each into the newly formed Stadium Company.
Over the past several years the Trust has been financially instrumental in signing players, of which Ben Black, Bob Beswick, Dave Larder, Mark Gleeson are just a few. For many years we ran the clubs retail business.
The trust has also invested in the clubs young players to the tune of £100,000. The Club has asked us this year to raise £50,000. This is a big ask, but with your help we hope to achieve this goal.
We have a monthly quiz night at the Ivy House at Holmfield. The next quiz night is Wednesday 30th January 7:30 for 8pm. This event raised over £1,000 in 2012.
We’ll soon be organising a race night and a summer bash. All proceeds from Trust events go to support the junior players.
Also as part of our fund raising; we will be selling squares. We’ve taken the playing area and divided it into 200 squares. There will be a draw at every home game and the lucky winner will win a free match day meal in the East Stand Harvey’s restaurant. The cost is £10.00 per square, this is for the whole season, please buy a square to help the junior players. The squares will be on sale at every home game look out for Trust members Linda Kitson and Maureen Booth to the front of the East Stand. They will also be available for purchase at quiz nights, members meeting and any Trust function.
We’ve had enquiries from the Bradford Bulls and Penrith Panthers asking how do we raise so much money for our Club, the answer, Bloody Hard Work
I’m using Royal Mail because I don’t have workable email address for you. If you could email me your address to
malcolm@halifaxrlfc.co.uk or
malfax319@hotmail.com I’ll add you to our working data base.
The next Trust Members meeting will be held at the Shay Stadium on Wednesday 6th February 7:30 for 8pm
Last month we didn't have a members meeting because it fell on the same night as Jamie Bloeme book launch so the trust board decided to help with that, hence no newsletter or minutes.
If you've paid to be on the shirt and haven't received details please get in touch and I'll get in touch either preferably by email or royal mail.
Malcolm Powell
Trust Chairman
