If you never saw my ol' man referee *live* I'm sure there'll be footage on't 'net somewhere of him in the middle of Saints v Wigan in the 1991 challenge cup final. That's one of my favourites, whereby he should have walked Steve Hampson for tripping Bishop, but he yellow carded him much to my dismay. If i'd been the *mystery shopper* that day, I'd have marked his card down for that alone but as it happened i ended up with his shirt & medal amongst other memorabilia of the occassion.

If you like, i could put you in contact with a rep of the RFL or the local referee society so that you can put a little something back into the game.

Hewer's first name is Gareth and he comes from Whitehaven. Do you want his weight and height too suppose you want me to know what he had for breakfast too and what colour underpants he wears

Warren Turley will develope into one of the Games Top Refs , no doubt , a very good Ref , and a genuine all round decent bloke .

very easy to bag a ref- until you ref a game yourself! The constant running and making sure you see everything and then make the correct hand signal as well as shout so your linesmen and others know the call. Refs make mistakes, but then so do players and coaches. Personally I dont think the Refs have been managed that well over the years under Stuart Cummins. Its OK pushing young Refs through but I do feel its often been done too quickly. I try and respect the Ref as very few have the balls to go out their and be abused each week- amateur or Pro level. I have reffed various games and actually did Serbia v Netherlands U20s a few years back. I challenge anybody to have a go at Reffing and see how your opinions change regarding Ref bashing

It annoys me when I hear a Coach make excuses like blaming the Ref when the team loses. A Ref may have made a bad call that cost a try. But what about the poor options and bombed chances the players did? I understand a coach will look to protect his under fire players at times but blaming match officials is not the right way.

He was linesman for us v Keighley a couple of seasons ago. Some Keighley supporters complained saying he had played for us. If that was to stop him he wouldn't be able to officiate at Doncaster, Huddersfield, Castleford, etc etc either,

Bloem did fine. A calm, even refereeing display, letting the teams play. can't really ask for any more than that.
