Exactly! Most of my mates are Town fans and believe me this IS about Town v Fax. They are just trying to put as many obstacles in the way as possible, delay things as much as possible and hope Tony gets fed up and walks away. The same old half hearted Halifax attitude that has seen The Shay underused and underdeveloped for years.
But if TA walks away and now (thanks to Bubba and his ilk) the ratepayers of Calderdale (who really could not give a fig about the Shay) have now been alerted as to what a drain it is to the Councils coffers ,will be pressurising their Councilors to get shut . Someone said to me yesterday
" they are talking of shuting the Surestart nurseries saying they can`t afford and the Shay is loseing £300,000 a year .I can`t wait for the local elections ."
Plus now the Councilors have got a bee in their bonnets because the Town supporters have been informing them of the fact the council was not recieving the full value of the Shay pushing the price further up will make it even harder for the sale to go ahead ,so what happens then ? No more investment from the Council the place goes back to looking shabby and neglected like it did when the SST ran it .
When all said and done the Town supporters don`t mind a private individual runing their football club (even though he could sell it to anyone or even move them and play elsewhere ) but object to an individual owning the Shay . The Town owner is a man who won`t even invest in the very basic of a Club Shop but they don`t want TA to invest in the Shay , strange one that .
To me it`s just another plan B that will end in tears .
