We came out on top with a blast straight after the second half then went through the motions a bit for the last 25 minutes, first half we were a bit average but when we got at them we scored with ease, Johnson and Saxton played well. Barrow throw it around well and run a fast line but are poor in defence they are DR with Salford now so not sure how many Salford players were on for them?
We have a good break now so we can recharge and kick on.

I take it that it was Halifax lad Niall Evalds who scored 3 tries for Barra ?

Cant say I am impressed with Karls comments again. Blaming everything for not playing well.

“We have had a tough schedule, playing Widnes in the Challenge Cup and then Leigh so that has not been ideal,” said the Halifax coach.

“Then we were held up in traffic jams on the motorway so we were a bit off our game today.

Stop making excuses Karl. We have played 2 tough teams but that is not the reason fax played poorly. Traffic problems OK. The sooner Karl stops trying to keep finding excuses for the way the team are playing the better. Bit of honesty would be good.

A win is a win but it is hardly an impressive win and we will end up in the top 5 but thats it. The team has far more potential than that for me but I just cant see the coaching staff getting the best out of them. Sorry to be negative but thats how I see it. Positiv is the way Johnson has been and am surprised Cas let him go. He is what a halfback should do and take the line on instead of just kicking or passing it out

At times yesterday we were lacklustre but barely got out of 2nd gear and we never really seemed in danger. Johnson was the difference and looks a quality player. The worrying thing for me is Harrison has had 3 seasons to sort out the inconsistency and inability to play the full 80 mins and we're no better off than the day he joined in that respect. We are as inconsistent now as we've ever been. Then you look at Bastian at Fev who has made wholesale changes in players, style of play etc and despite this Fev will still be top 2 in my opinion and more consistent than we are irrespective of their blip at Donny......

Had a good day a barrow. Had lunch at the Derby Arms and Fax won. The four Barrow fellas sitting behind us had great passion for their team but kept saying how we looked bigger and more organised. Chris Smith, you have your opinions but if we were lack lustre and still in second gear and still come away with a 14 point gap can that not be seen as a positive. I think we will keep improving we are playing more expansive rugby. Just my opinion.

Charlie is glad you had a good day out , for me Barra are a poor team , so don't get carried away with the result , you will improve as the warm weather arrives , but the problem is you have now lost 3 games and have a run of away games to come , which doesn't leave you with much leeway to still finish in the top 2 , don't get me wrong I for one want Fax in the Top 2 , second to Leigh obviously , but you must starting winning well , and Karl stop making excuses or blaming the other teams .See you at the LSV on 8th June for round 2  .

Thanks Charlie, I don't get carries away, I'm just a fanatical supporter of Halifax. However I believe we will get better and other teams who seem stronger at the moment will fade and lose some games! It's an exciting season

No doubt about what you say , Leighs acid test has arrived to shape our season , 2 games against Fev , then away games at Sheff , Dews , and Worky , with a Donny game inbetween , before we entertain your good selves .Fax on the other hand have away games at Worky,Rochdale,Dews ,Keighley , and Leigh , in between a home game with the NW Crusaders , so it isn't easy for anyone .I have already said elsewhere if we can come out of our next 6 games with 1 loss we should finish top of the League , but that is so easy to say , and I don't count any chickens , just eat em .

Re: Score at Barra? : Sun Apr 20, 2014 11:20 am
Just catching up after getting back from Barra via two night stop off in Blackers with the Mrs. Fax looked good in spells and for once it was us that scored just before and just after half time- which I think is the sign of decent side.
Johnstone is class and won't be playing Championship rugby at Fax for long if he carries on playing the way he is doing. I agree we aren't there yet but still plenty time to go in the season and other top teams will take points off each other. It would be great to have a bit of good luck, for once, with mid to end of season injuries and have everybody fit and let's see on harder grounds how we can do. Leigh look class and will finish Champs but I still think 2nd spot is up there for grabs. keep the faith.

Any win is a positive mate, end of. I just say what I see as it is my opinion. I still want the same thing as everyone else though. However Barrow are a very poor side and at times we made very hard work of them. Points Difference can make a BIG difference in this league and 14 points isn't enough against a team as poor as Barrow. However some say it's the sign of a good team playing bad and winning..... Personally I think were just too erratic and inconsistent. Johnson looks class though and I hope an harder track will see the best of this side.... Fingers crossed.
