Why are we obsessed by Fev and Leigh, the Board are the same, why don't they and we just concentrate on Halifax RLFC 'cos we got problems and lack of communication and PR is one of them! Take a look at where Fev and Leigh are right now and what they will get for finishing top 2 while we get the scraps!
Heard salary cap is 900 000 next year for championship so can see why top two is important to us If we get there we need the £400 000 that we spent this year plus the money from second so we should be able to afford it. First we have to get second and we need to continue running the club correctly From now to the end of the season is a long time and anything could happen. I also hate DR but when I sit at POR on Sunday and the players run out it's still my team that I see and as long as players that come in are ones AH wants to play them I will live with it for now As for the statements it gets people talking and it keeps us up to date with what's happening We haven't been good this year but we needed to improve the BOD have acted and the only way we could bring players in was on DR to make sure we didn't break any rules
But jtfev......It's not YOUR team. Part of it is some bugger else's!

As I have said I don't like it but can see why we have done it It's 17 men playing in a Fev shirt at POR giving there all to win and getting 3 points helping us to try and finish second at a time when we have injuries. Short term pain long term gain and if we do it this year we will only be better next year so yes it is my team If this is the way the BOD think is right for us to get there I will have to accept it

HS - devil's advocate here – so when Halifax has been playing Saxton the last 6 weeks or so was the whole all the Fax team been yours or did some of it belong to Fev? I personally don’t like DR because of the following reasons (amongst others): - It is designed for SL clubs to save money, rather than investing in youth development in the UK - It has reduced the options for young kids to get into the game (we need a proper ‘A’ team structure, U23’s or whatever you want to call it) - It gets abused, e.g. Swinton DR the whole of the Wire team, etc. - It is a stepping stone to where the SL clubs want to get to (having feeder teams as happens down under) If I had been on the Fev BOD I would have been against us going DR with Wakey, but I wasn’t and they have deemed it necessary to get to at least 2nd place in the league, which I have two choices about - leave or lump it. If it was Fax that had chosen to do this I guess you’d be in a similar place to me (not a happy one). As for FN’s money, we’ll take it for now, but not at all costs, for which I am glad we have the other BOD members, whom I am sure will not allow this to happen.
PS no need to answer the question PPS I can’t wait to get back out round Huddersfield, via the Star, Rat & Ratchet, Grove, Sportsman and Kings Head for one or two good ales
I will answer though. Firstly we aren't being used abnd abused by Fev and secondly we won't become Fevs feeder club, i don't think! The feeder club system is where this shambles is heading if everyone does what Fev and others have done. As I've said before if Fax go down that road, I and others I know are done with Rugby League at professional level. I'm off for a drink!

Dave, as usual a thoughtful post, many good points, you didn't really think you would get the benefit of a similar response did you?
PLease note before you read the rest of my post, I do not like DR and would like to do away with it as a concept, but would justy like to put some thoughts out there.

Halifax did know that Saxton is available for the full month and might have been able to sign him had Bastian not been sacked.
Dual Reg, it's case of player X here today gone tomorrow and the coach can start planning on a thursday or later when he finds out who he can have.
FD - After the 1st month (depending on how the loan deal is structured) the player can be recalled at any time. Therefore in essence the only difference between DR and a loan is with DR a player can be recalled after 4 days rather than 30 days with a load deal. As you rightly point out the makes it difficult for coaches to manage player selection, getting a balanced team, etc. So you can add this to my previous list things | dislike about DR. Along with the fact that it can unsettle the other members of the squad, though you could say this is true of loan players also. So in truth there would not appear to be much difference between the two (yes I agree there is).
With Saxon seeing out the remaining part of the 2nd month of his loan deal says a huge amount about the quality of this individual, for whom I have great respect. Since as I understandit he had the chance to return early and turn out for Fev, but instead choose to see out the loan deal at Fax.

I would suggest that Fev ain't being abused by the agreement with Wakey, but I can see why you might get this view from the outside, in a similar way that I don't believe that Leigh were abused with their agreement with Wigan. I would suggest that it has allowed Fev to look at a couple of players that they are interested in signing as Fax are with Saxon, but the long term will determine where this goes.
I hope and pray that non of the current and future pro and semi-pro clubs become feeder clubs, especially Fax. The game in the UK needs a multiple strong independant clubs, not just half a dozen at the top of SL. in my opinion all the chanmpionship sides and Championship 1 sides should have told SL where to shove DR, but we didn't, mores the pity.
I can see why you say why your done with Pro RL if Fax go down that route (since it has crossed my mind too), but would suggest it is a drastic move when it is probably the time when your club will need you most, since I am sure it is nothing that the Fax BOD would do lightly and without good reason.
HalifaxJohn,
I think that the responses are more than reasonable. DR like a lot of things that the RFL have introduced is devisive. I just wish it had never been introduced! Hope to see you in the 3 pigeons for a pint or two later in the year.
